I'm enjoying my Otto Link Reso Chamber on Clarinet these days. I think it pairs better with my vintage Clarinet more so than do modern mouthpieces.

Reso clarinets are amazing! What clarinet do you play?

@@DaleFedele It's an old Evette Sponsored by Buffet. I think it's from the 30's but I'm having trouble dating it from the serial number alone.

@@ianwhatmough150 send me the serial. dalemfedele@gmail.com. Evettes can be awesome horns, and can rival some of the best Buffets. The main weakness is in the barrel, I think. I used to play a Reso with a 1959 R13 (very similar to some Evettes in a lot of ways) and I felt it was a great pairing...far better than the slants I've tried for clarinet. And I feel the same way about bass clar resos too!

@@DaleFedele It's number 6887. Not a K series.

@@ianwhatmough150 (This is what I've heard) I have a C-series that is pretty early...I believe the ones with letter prefixes were made by Malerne, and the ones WITHOUT were made by Shreiber. 6887 is probably very early, though. I've never played an evette (to my knowledge) without the letter prefix. Does it have unplated solid german silver keywork (yellow-ish keys)?

I actually found one of these for alto but it was refaced. But geeeeeeez it’s amazing

Wowzers! I accidentaly found a mouthpiece on ebay, that looked axactly like one of yours, for tenor, but made of grenadilla) it had no marks at all and i bought it for 25€ as a refacing project. It was 0,060 tip opening and 54 (mm×2)facing which is kinda long nowadays. So probably it was one of the chedville as well)

What is the facing length on the Bass/bari piece, that could be a clue into which it is intended for
@DaleFedele3 жыл бұрын
I'll get back to you on that!! By the way, I'm sure Dr. Cohen has some of these. Might you show him this video for me? I'd be very interested to hear of his reaction to the grenadilla Henri Ched...I might actually have something he doesn't!!! Hahaha

Do you know anything about the metal ones - I have an alto “CC1” mouthpiece
@DaleFedele3 жыл бұрын
I'm so sorry I don't have more information. I've seen maybe a dozen for sale on ebay over the last five years. They always looked high quality. Perhaps similar to the WWco pieces that people say are dukoff blanks. Though that could be entirely misinformation. You know...I've also had a few Kaspar saxophone pieces, also very interesting. I hope one day to find one of these metal ones. They were very prevalent a few years ago, but for at least a year or two I haven't seen one.

@@DaleFedele it’s pretty hard to play! / only seems workable with an extra soft reed. Am not sure if it’s been altered since new, so I have wondered if the tip opening is too big
