I knew it! Finally, I love True Lies so much. True Lies has low key one of the funniest scenes in a movie. When the harrier pilot asks Schwarzeneggers character if shooting missiles at the truck will set off the nuke and he tells them no and then turns to Tom Arnold’s character and does a funny face like, “Boy, I really hope not”.

This is the first action movie i ever saw. A guy had a tv in his backyard where he'd invite people to watch movies for 5 pesos in my town back in the Dominican Republic. I also watched Terminator 2 there that same year and learned years later that it had been released before true lies. Funny how good movies touch us in a way that brings back memories of one's life when we first watched them

So stoked you guys finally did this one. As for the “why is the daughter listening to Cream” thing though. She’s listening to the Living Colour cover, that was the promo song for the movie, and was pretty massive on the airwaves in the build up (remember having the cassette single and hammering it here in New Zealand). Her listening to it on the motor bike is a blatant homage to T2 with GnR on the motorbike. Love the Pod keep em cranking.

@59:00 talking about music/no music in the scene. They probably have an earpiece in, so they can hear the music, and move to it, but it's not "out loud" in the room where it would mess with their dialogue. That allows them to dance to the beat better, but also allows for easier sound mixing later.

I think you guys should do a Rewatchables on Last Action Hero because that movie, all the satire and critiques on Hollywood, Movie Stars, Big Budget movies, etc., you can STILL apply it to this day. And, Arnold really gives a damn good performance especially when Jack Slater comes into the real world. The self analyzation, Arnold was doing this way before it became a thing actors do on SNL for laughs. I chalk it up to Arnie's ego, but, if he moved the released date of LAH a week or two prior to Jurassic Park, it would have fared better at the Box Office

But then the 9/11 attacks happened and the plot had a similar set piece to the actual 9/11 so they had to scrap it. Cameron said that after that Terriorsm was something not be made fun of after 9/11.

It feels like a no brainer that True Lies should have a sequel, BUT, in some ways I am glad it is kept as just a secular film. I can understand Bill's take that this being the best Bond since, really, the biggest truth is that this film shows off how good Arnold is at acting and with the right director. Very much like Total Recall-which involves the Spy genre-as Harry Tasker he is allowed to be a Bad ass, a Dad, charming, jealous, concerning, emotional. Most of all, it shows off how naturally good at Comedy he is without being forceful, cringy, or, trying too hard. Example, when he is explaining Crimson Jihad's intentions when they are recording the video, its a great example of how he weaves the seriousness and comedy

Weve had so many bad portrayals of Terminators, or actors playing some kind of emotionless robot or whatever. But Arnold is great in both the first two Terminators. He's frightening and intimidating in 1, then he's charming and funny while still being intimidating in 2. With the exception of Robert Patrick, every other actor playing a Terminator has been bad at it, or at best serviceable but forgettable.
