Well lets have some fun and Stay on this Quentin Tarantino adventure. Although Directed by Tony Scott, Tarantino penned this film and bears many hallmarks of his other work. I love this Film, and have seen it but Major has not, so lets enjoy this reaction. Starrin Christain Slate, Gary Oldman, Christopher Walken, Patricia Arquette, Samuel L Jackson, Dennis Hopper, James Gandolfini, and Brad Pitt, jeez what a cast!
Enjoy my friends.

Awesome movie with an even more epic cast. Possibly the best cast ever assembled. Oldman is a cinematic chameleon. Possibly the greatest actor ever.

This was an early Tarantino script. In the original draft Clarence died at the end of the film. Alabama goes on to become a thief, working with Harvey Keitel's character from "Reservoir Dogs". During his meeting with Joe before the heist, Joe asks Keitel "How's 'Bama?" "True Romance", "Reservoir Dogs" and "Pulp Fiction" are all set in the same universe. John Travolta's character Vincent Vega (Pulp Fiction) and Michael Madsen's character Vic Vega (Reservoir Dogs) are brothers.

Hardly anyone mentions it, but the score by Hans Zimmer is infectious. It goes against convention yet it works beautifully

That scene was shot reverse shot with Walken and Hopper - Hopper got to shoot his scenes first from his angle, then Walken watched the reactions and used those reactions to use as a reference for how he should act during the next day of shooting. So, day one, they had all the cameras and lighting set up for Hopper and then the second day they relit the set and moved the cameras for Walken's lines and delivery. Tony Scott knew it had the potential to be a great scene and with Hopper and Walken on the screen at the same time, it was worth talking time with those actors to get the best performance he could. RIP Hopper and RIP Scott.

If you haven’t seen the original “Get Carter” I’d highly recommend it. A British crime/gangster classic. Pretty bleak northern, industrial noir style, with a great lead performance from Michael Caine.

Great pick, fellas. I have a few things and I'll try to keep it short, but I really love this movie so no promises. :) First of all, the cantaloupe line was ad-libbed by Walken. I'm not sure if there was anything originally in the script or not but, as the story goes, he was just picturing Dennis Hopper's head and what his character would like to do it right in that moment and it just came out. I think we can all agree they made the right choice leaving it in. He is TERRIFYING in that scene, and that one little remark brings it home in the best way possible. Is there anyone who can shoot cigarette smoke better than Tony Scott? Don't know how he does it, but somehow it always reminds me of how it billows in rooms with low ceilings, like casinos on cruise ships. What an incredibly perfect thing for your subconscious to say to you at the end of every pep talk if your subconscious is Elvis: "I like you, Clarence. Always have. Always will." Don't know if you guys are aware of it (most people who like this movie are not) but "romance", in literary terms, doesn't NESESSARILY have anything to do with love (sorry to enlighten all you V-day junkies out there). The "truer" definition is an attribute of miracles, or the unlikeliest of good things. Which, when you think about it: 1- Gets rejected by whats-her-name from UNFORGIVEN who's probably twice his age, and then hooks up with Patricia Arquette. 2- Elopes with the prostitute that looks like Patricia Arquette, who he's known for one night, and it actually all works out by the end of the movie. 3- Not only gets out of Drexl's place alive, but actually accomplishes what he went in there to do. 4- Reconciles with his estranged father, who then gives his life to save him. 5- Our three big characters at the meet (Clarence, Alabama, Dick) all survive the big climactic shootout (which, of course, happens at the Beverly Ambassador penthouse), despite two of them being right in the crossfire, and despite the fact that EVERY SINGLE OTHER PERSON INVOLVED dies. 6- Finds a big bag of coke that belongs to the mob, sells it (kind of), manages to duck the mob AND the cops, escapes death by "an inch or two", and lives happily ever with his family in Mexico. When you stop and think about it, the really incredible thing about this film is that it's NOT so ridiculous you can't enjoy it. And you barely notice!

Dirty Harry disappeared before I could give my feedback. So i'll say here that I was also a little underwhelmed by it when I first saw it given how entrenched the character had become in pop culture. I was a bit surprised how blind Major was going into it. As a child before I could even name a single Clint Eastwood film I knew of Callahan's most famous lines (one from the first film one from a sequel). Although there may not be animated GIF memes online with the character it has been so very heavily referenced and parodied over the years. Eg: Leslie Nielsen gives an "I shoot the bastard that's my policy" speech in Naked Gun, and there is the classic tv show cop "McGarnagle" in The Simpsons.

You say the other is random? You should read the regional script. Clarence and Alabama are on the run but you don’t know why. The flashbacks reveal the earlier scenes. Did you point out the Gary Oldman played Drexel? I guess it’s front of mind to me as I just came to this straight from watching a Dark Knight reaction.

YYYYYESSSS!!! I was 23 in 93 and had recently fallen in fuckin love with Gary Oldman as an actor from watching Dracula all summer and the trailer for this was constant!! I COULDNT wait to see Oldman again!! Andj Sorry I spaced names ri opportunity ht now just ì Ok little kid on the right, I was just about to make a comment using fake driving steering wheels, then fuckin Rich Dicky demonstrates. I was about to comment on your fake weasel typing!! Hilarious mannn!! This movie, I went to see on my 23 birthday because once I turned 18 I bipassed the birthday dinner and started my own traditions, like goin to the matine movie time for fewer people. I'd sit in my truck listening to SOUNDGARDEN , drinking beers before a couple hits of weed had me tuned in for the movie.😎✌️🤪 It quickly became a favorite thanks to Oldman's performance but was later confirmed through my anthem OUTSHINED by my boy Chris Cornell SOUNDGARDEN. My other fave from that time , POINT BREAK. Hint
