My band played Lismore one time and when we unlocked our room there was already a bloke in there covered in sweat with a blanket on eating chips on the couch. I was like "is this our room?" and he just looked and me and said absolutely nothing so I told the manager and she wasn't even surprised. She just looked at me and said "musta climbed in the window." There was no solution to my problem of not having a room that I payed for so I slept on the floor in the office under a desk and nobody gave a fuck.

I used to live in Lismore, and it is the best town hands down because it has such a wide variety of people living there, was a pretty town and in a fantastic bit of Australia. I have a lot of stories about it, one of my favourites was if you were a uni student (like I was) middle age swingers would go out and try and pick up one or two students to go home with them and they were by no means attractive or anything but had just such a confidence that it did give some people pause to consider it for a nanosecond lol. Another favourite story of mine was how there wasn't much to do really in Lismore except go to unibar or the pubs in town, so when it flooded (which happened a lot), people would go down to the river and watch the flood and get drunk. Also one time our power went out and within 10 minutes everyone in my college has materialised in the carpark, with alcohol and started a bonfire and people were throwing their uni notes into the fire. It was mid-semester and they definitely still needed them but 10mins without power and we all immediately accept our new role as MadMax extras. The one other story I have were not once, but TWICE during the final year unibar party people robbed my college because people WOULD NOT LOCK their doors. Like the townies would find out when the last party was and then roll into the colleges (yes, multiple) and walk into any unit that was not locked. We warned people multiple times throughout the year and it was chaos when we would all get back at like 1am and there were 30+ 18-22 years drunk and freaking out because their shitty laptop or phone was stolen and all they had to do to avoid it was lock the door or at least lock the door of their bedroom because no one who locked up had anything missing. It was really a casual break in, very chill and laid back because like I said, they only went into places unlocked like the gentleman in Jordan's tale and while they did steal, it only laptops mostly. Other stuff that could have been of some value was left behind lol.

I swear that the further you move away from the coast the rougher the towns get. It seems that bore water baths and salt-lake swims just aren't refreshing enough. I was stuck for a night in a "Wake in Fright" town when we decided to head to the local pub where an AC/DC cover band was playing. I will never forget having a conversation with 3 guys at the urinal. One was completely collapsed at the base of the piss trough and casually moved from side to side as people sent their beers on to the local sewage farm.

@SEEYAIAYE5 жыл бұрын
Meanwhile in the Riverland, SA, our metal tech teacher let us build weapons, a mate built a speargun, used two bands of rubber for extra firepower and almost killed his sister when the spear went straight through a .44 gallon drum and lodged into her caravan when we were testing it out in his backyard. I think we were the last ever class to be able to do this at the school. I made a slingshot with a wrist brace that could deadset punch a hole in a shed if you used anything metal as ammo, fun times.
