Unfortunately the anime cut out all of Brain's back story. He was once a farmer, but he found that he had a Talent that gave him an uncanny level of skill in swordsmanship. Gazef defeated him in a martial arts tournament, and since then Brain resolved to only pursuit of martial strength. But meeting Shalltear destroyed his spirit because it made him to realize the strength he had been pursuing is out of reach because humanity can never become that strong and tha everything in his life had been a complete waste of time. The people who Shalltear encountered at 9:16 were the Slane Theocracy's Black Scripture who worship their religion's god of death. Clementine defected from their group when she ran away from her country.

In the light novel the red nose guy was given a quick backstory; if I remember, he had a hard life where his sister was taken away from him and from then on he would do whatever it took to have a "win" in his life, but of course he picked the wrong people to rob.

When shalltear mentioned that she only notices a change in strength by meters and not milimeters she was implying that unless brain uses his martial art (which requires him to make a stance from a ways away and strike effectively in an instant) then he's weak otherwise if he fights normally rather than at a distance.

something i wish the anime did better was showing how powerful the characters are, brain at this time only lost 1 fight in his life and it was to the greatest swordsman in the country, he created an attack that could defeat him too. he was going through a depression wondering what to do with his life because every fight is so easy for him he don't have to struggle. so not even putting a scratch on someone broke his whole reality. he wasn't cocky he was one of the top human swords person in the country that everyone feared

They used a world item on her, it was supposed to take control of her, but she killed the person who used it, and because of that there was no one to give her any order, and she couldn't move anymore because she was still under mind control , the default mode was to attack anyone who was hostile to her.

I know that alot of the time anime with original Japanese with English subtitles has far better voice acting but for me I have a hard time following the action while reading the subtitles. Don't get me wrong, for the most part I find as a whole Japanese voice acting is much better than English. For me it seems like Japanese voice actors put more effort into their acting roles and honestly some English voice actors voices don't fit the character they're playing. I usually start off watching an anime in English but for example, if the voice actor for the MC doesn't sound believable as that character then I'll switch to the original Japanese with English subtitles. I don't know if I'm just being neurotic or if other people do the same lol. I usually end up watching both English subtitled and dubbed anyways because alot of times the production team doing the English dubbing take liberties and change what characters say in certain situations or just cut out lines completely. Comment was longer than I ment it to be but what are your thoughts on anime dubbed vs subtitled? Great reactions BTW, for a while I based what I would watch next on what you had reactions too lol. I already seen that you're reacting to some heaters this season, I can't wait until the end of the season and all the new reactions are out because I can't be waiting for the anime and reaction to drop every single week. they talk too much 😐 even by the standards of a reaction, not to mention that several of their comments (not all) are unnecessary, since they don't contribute anything to the reaction, on the contrary, they only get distracted and lose parts of the story, that's why in almost all the reactions that have been uploaded to the channel they do not know the reason for many things in the stories 🤔 it is more in the format of the video reactions when you are going to speak either to ask a question or to contribute more things you must pause the video that is being watched so you don't miss anything 👌 (which they don't do in their videos and that ruins it)
