That's what I love the most about earbuds - the ability to witness the progress they've made in such a short amount of time. It reminds me of motocross bikes from the 1980s. If you tried to race a two year old bike in 1986, you wouldn't stand a chance of being competitive. The technology was evolving at such an incredible rate, and it was exciting to see which manufacturers would come out with brand new features first. That was a very exciting time in history for me and earbuds remind me of this every day.

I own the Bose QC earbuds and I am not sure how you can say their audio quality is lacking in treble and their bass is not great. I think your subjective bias has distorted your objectivity. The audio quality of the Bose earbuds is simply stellar measured by any set of metrics. The sound stage is wide and spacious, the instrument separation is spectacular, the clarity and honest reproduction of various genres of music is unsurpassed. I say that as a singer songwriter that plays two instruments

I have the qce ultra (and before that, the ii). Agree, their bass is so full, it hits you. You can go a bit overboard with the eq if you want too. I also thought the treble was done well. It's not the best sound, but credit where credit is undue, they're good. On the whole though, weird connectivity issues, poor mic, means they're not the best earbuds out there

Depends on your phone as well, but something like OnePlus Buds 2 Pro would be good for movies with their tuning and spatial audio. NuraTrue Pro would also be good for movies I think - but i'm thinking about action/sci-fi genres too
@seezyc158 Жыл бұрын
I have the B&O EX and their sound sig is very balanced. You could say they sound rather flat but for audio purists this is bliss. You can use the app to adjust the EQ in a general sense and what’s useful is that it doesn’t distort the sound sig - you still have the great clean sound. However, the ANC is so bad I often check the app to see if it’s turned on, regardless of ear tip fit. The older EQ model had far better ANC, not sure what happened here. Given the price I’m not sure I could recommend the EX except for use in quiet environments. Fantastic comparison video btw!

Really great review, thanks for sharing. I use android and iOS and tried lots of different ear buds, through a range of prices. I ended up with the Sony linkbud S and the Apple AirPods Pro 2 as the two that stood out for true wireless. I’d ruled out the BEO on price. I used to have the Cambridge Audio Melomania 1+ which sound great, and are only £45 now. My android phone is an LG V6 with quad dac and my wired planar iems trounced the wireless earbuds I tried. In the end I returned the linkbud s (and others) and kept the AirPods Pro 2. The main reasons was that it beat everything else I tried for handling the loud screeches on the London Underground with its ANC. And for the first time since android was released, I switched my main sim from android to iOS because of the better personalisation I can now get with iOS, the length of updates and security model. It’ll be interesting to see what difference aptx lossless has made, if any, this time next year.

Absolutely fantastic roundup. MEticulous and informative - helps us evaluate for ourselves and takes our own preferences into account. Love this and have used your headphone video to manage my upgrade route. I am auditioning the Momentum 4 (for 225 from CEX) and the H95 (400 from CEX). The H95 is a steal, while the Momentum 4 is just slightly cheaper. My focus is sound quality, so we shall see what wins - both on their way. In terms of buds just went for the Sennheiser Momentum 3 TW (again, CEX for 120) - I put them in, and they sound just like the Momentum wireless over-ear headphones. I could believe that a truly wireless headphone could not bring that quality of sound. The development in the industry is amazing. As for your video remarks - they are spot on. I prefer the Sennheiser signature, so I know what I like and cannot give up sound quality for better ANC or convenience. You made me think that I might have to listen to the B&O buds - which I had not considered. I am also a big fan of the B&O signature, so I am really thinking about that. They are available at the same price of £120 at CEX, so I will have another look. I cannot currently imagine what could be a better sound than the sound I am getting from the Momentum 3 TW. I sat in my office today and was just amazed that even though I knew that I had buds in my ears 1. It did not feel like I had anything much in my ears at all. 2. It felt like I was in a room of sound - imaging was amazing 3. The bass could be felt in my feet even at low volumes. I was utterly astonished. Still completely scared that I am going to lose one though haha. Thanks so much for your fantastic video. Please keep doing what you do. Long time sub

Unrelated, but I’m eagerly waiting for your review of the S23Ultra camera for some actually useful insight about the image processing. I was impressed with your S22U comparisons where you brought out the nuances of image processing and discussed all areas where it fell short viz. Edge detail and sharpness , noise reduction quality, over-sharpening and chromatic aberrations etc. Currently all reviews are an extension of Samsung PR and are hyping up the phone as usual. I’ve committed the mistake of believing these reviews in the past only to later realise after getting the phone in hand how rubbish the image processing is on Samsung phones. @@johnbauknecht6434 It's a good camera. But Samsung's software adds extra digital sharpness to the images which I don't like. They make the photos look artificial and actually end up making them lose fine detail and texture which the sharpening tried to add or enhance in the first place. It's counterproductive. Samsung's image processing algorithm is designed to look appealing on the phone. Had my first experience with it when I bought the iPhone 7 plus and my friend brought the Samsung S7. The photos on the Samsung were noticeably brighter and sharp and actually made me ditch my iPhone. Little did I know what I had in store. When I brought the phone home and started taking photos extensively and began inspecting them closely, I realised how terrible the image processing on Samsung phones was. Full of artificial sharpening, chromatic aberrations, overexposed highlights. Made me realise how Samsung's trick had worked on me when my friend showed me the photos on his S7.

What are your thoughts on the issue?
@insidetechltd Жыл бұрын
Thank you very much! My experience is that in some very noisy wind conditions, ANC isn't the best option to use. Actually switching to 'off' mode can improve the wind noise issue so there's a way around it. If the conditions are 'so bad' that it is still a problem...well all earbuds are going to struggle. There's no pair of earbuds that are perfect in harsh conditions. So I think the Linkbuds are good enough for most situations 👌🏼

Hi! Just adding my grain of salt here. I got the LinkBuds S only a week ago and I'm already experiencing said wind noise problem from the right earbud. @@ConsumeTV Thanks for sharing! I've owned the LinkBuds S for about a month and the only issues I've experienced so far are 1. that the buds will randomly disconnect from my phone and 2. the buds stayed on even after putting them back in the case. For issue No. 1, I just turned off the "Automatic Power off Function" in the app. For issue No.2, the battery of the case was most likely depeleted, though when I checked the battery levels on the app, it said that the case still had about 35% left remaining. But after charging the case the case, the issue went away. As for the wind noise, I don't think I really noticed it. I mostly use them indoors so that's probably why. ANC in my opinion is scary good.

I don’t think that’s true. I also don’t think most reviewers spend months painstakingly comparing earbuds side by side in multiple scenarios to do in-depth analysis on every feature. I also don’t think any audiophiles thoroughly ranking earbuds would put Sony in 1st place for sound quality. But in any case, everyone has their own experience and view. If everyone got the same rankings, there would be no need for reviews. These are simply my own results and thoughts!

Don't buy the link bud S. Watched this review and went out and got the link bud s based off of the recommendations. There is no way you actually tested the call quality in real life. The head phones default to pass through mode on calls which amplifies all sound around you making it nearly impossible to hear the call. The mics also fluctuate in and out making your voice garbled and very artificial. Genuinely disappointed in the ear buds and this channel, the review is unfortunately not realistic to how the link buds handle calls in the real world. Will be taking them back

I have lost my Jabra 75t (though I still have the case) which I used exclusively for the ANC as I am not at all good with people due to autism and a generally being a bit of a recluse. What would you recommend as an alternative ANC for under $50. I tried TOTO NC7 which didn't really stop the noise like my 75t's did. Is there one out there or am I just chasing rainbows?
@insidetechltd Жыл бұрын
Honestly, you’re gonna struggle to replace a $150 pair of earbuds for under $50. There’s a chance you’ll find the Jabra Elite 3 for that price. They’ll offer a similar fit to what you’re used to, so you could try that!
@rolins3279 Жыл бұрын
Instead of the Linkbuds S, I would recommend the JBL Live Pro 2 at $80-$100 For phone call, having personally tested them, the 1MORE are particularly bad in noisy environments, the other 2 mentioned are not really bad, but not really the best in the exercise. The best ones I've tested are the Huawei Freebuds Pro 1 ($100), the Earfun Air Pro 1 ($40-$50) and the Earfun Air S ($60-$70), unlike all other earbuds, they block ambient noise without necessarily trying to make it completely disappear, but to attenuate it to a level really low enough for a clear conversation between you and your interlocutor, but above all they ensure that your voice remains very well understandable and very natural.

@insidetechltd I asked a quality separation between like Sony #4 and place #1 or #2 . I meant like it's a huge step of quality # 1 vs #4
@insidetechltd Жыл бұрын
Oh I see. No, the quality gap isn't huge between those places. The top sort of 7 are all extremely good and the performance can vary between them (in some situations the lower ranks do better than the higher ones). So it's close

@insidetechltd10 ай бұрын
The main 3 factors are the Bluetooth version, which codecs are supported and if they have a game mode. At this stage pretty much all earbuds are fine for watching videos. But you might want a pair with a dedicated game mode if you need super low latency

Hey, Adam-could you tell me about some open ear buds like the Sony Linkbuds Truly? Or maybe you have other advice. I’ve been testing the Technics AZ60M2, today… and because I don’t use earbuds a lot, it felt a bit… claustrophobic? Especially when I was out in the world, I felt like I needed to remove them a lot because I felt more comfortable talking to others without feeling like my ears were plugged. Not a discomfort I expected. The sound quality was great, though. I like them. Maybe I just have to get used to it or rock one at a time?
@insidetechltd Жыл бұрын
That's definitely a normal thing to experience if you're quite new to earbuds. I do think you'd get used to it more over time, but also some people just prefer the open/semi-open style earbuds instead. You might be one of those people! I also wouldn't wear earbuds when talking to others and i'm completely comfortable wearing them. I think people generally use earbuds when outdoors specifically to block out their surroundings - they want that ear-plugging sensation. The problem with open or semi-open earbuds is that they let in the outside noise - so the sound quality experience is never as good. You could try some like LinkBuds and see if you prefer it, but when you want to just listen to music it isn't very immersive or high quality. You could try using the transparency mode when outdoors with your earbuds? Maybe filtering in some of the outside noise will help it feel less claustrophobic
@MichelleUretsky Жыл бұрын
@@insidetechltd I have definitely been using transparency mode, actually just the entire time. Still feels like they’re plugged… But. I probably also need to get the AZ80s, as the AZ60M2 are hurting my ears. I have really small ears. But, I’m sure I’ll start to get used to it, hopefully! 💚

Hey! Quick questions, I see the xm5 earbuds are rumored to come out maybe this year. At least in canda, costoc has the xm4 earbuds for 200 cad, while the linbud is is about 250, I currently have the airpod pro gen 1, and use a andoird, do you thing its worth changing to the xm4 earbuds now? or should I wait for the xm5s, or buy the linkbud s? Thanks!
@insidetechltd Жыл бұрын
I personally wouldn't change to the XM4 when the LinkBuds S exist - I find it hard to recommend the XM4 instead now, but if you don't mind it being a bulkier earbud then it does provide slightly better sound quality, wireless charging and better battery. I normally wouldn't say to wait for an upcoming earbud either. This industry moves on so quickly that there is ALWAYS a 'new' or 'better' earbud out there. So you just need to go for it when you want a new pair. But this situation is tough, given the price difference, so maybe wait if you can and see about the XM5 🤷♂️

@insidetechltd Жыл бұрын
Between 3ANC are geared towards audiophiles and have a sound signature that reflects that. Sony's LinkBuds are geared more towards an average consumer and, not only does the sound signature reflect that, but the more comprehensive feature set does too. LinkBuds are more well-rounded

Or do you have any other tws suggestions? Thank You
@insidetechltd Жыл бұрын
It depends a lot on your budget. I don't think Soundpeats H1 are reliable, and the Elite 3 doesn't have a game mode (not tested Tozo). You want something with good bass and a low latency game mode, so options like LG's T90 and Soundcore's Space A40 could be good.
