Is it worth considering future proofing some of the design elements? 18:10 riveting Ali sheet onto steel inner frame. Maybe worth putting a thin neoprene strip between the two (1) to prevent NVH (2) help restrict galvanic corrosion. Few areas in the build where Ali is coming in contact with steel and neither surface is coated and there isn’t a barrier. As ever, fab viewing and one of current fav channels. 💪🏻🤙🏻

Thanks very much mate, yep anywhere where we will install Ali to steel we will make sure there is a break, paint or powder coating and silicone 👍

I’m loving this build series, especially how you are completely repurposing a working vehicle but keeping it honest and respectful to its years of service. Keeping the shutters and creating the roof in a similar style to the original pods is genius

Thanks very much, we are so glad we are keeping the shutters hopefully will look cool 😊

My neighbour recommended a battery powered silicone gun and so I bought one and love it. He also has a sheet bender and guillotine so I’m set. Loving your build and working relationship, I’ve also built my own van. Cheers from Tasmania.

Excellent build and the two of you are awesome! Please be aware that galvanic corrosion can occur when two metals (aluminum and steel) are in contact, and exposed to water (catalyst). Since aluminum is more active (anodic/sacrificial) it will oxidate rapidly compared to steel (cathodic/protected). Watch out for powdery residue on top of aluminum. Since this is an electrical, chemical reaction, two metals must be insulated from each other utilizing non-conductive materials (powder coating/paint/plastic), and or the use of appropriate fasteners (stainless steel/ cadmium plated). I am looking forward to the following episodes. Cheers.

Thanks very much mate, yep hopefully going to combat this like u say with paint powder coat and silicone between the 2 surfaces 👍
