I'm so tempted to just use my pinky and slide it on the 4th step 😛 Great practice exercise

Robben good lesson, we often use the dim scale and never realized. I love it I've watched several of you videos on it. It works on the R Charles "Unchain my heart ".

So in the key of a what would be the minor third? Not c right? C would be the relative major?
@frankgreco6 жыл бұрын
I believe you are mixing up some concepts. In the key of 'A' (formally speaking 'A Minor'), C would be the minor third interval from 'A'. And... the key of C is the relative major of A minor, ie, the notes are the same, but the tonal center (where your brain/ear is focused) is different.

Dean botts C is the minor 3rd in the key of A minor. And yes, C major is the relative major of A minor

Why does this even matter?

I am confused because an A diminished scale, or any diminished scale starts with a whole step.
@MarcoRaaphorst Жыл бұрын
You are right. What he is showing is called the dominant diminished scale.
@timeconsumer325Ай бұрын
Yeah. He’s playing what’s often called the “half whole diminished scale” it’s useful for playing over a functioning dominant chord of the same root note. The “whole half” dominant scale would be starting two frets back and you’d start with a whole step first, then half, and so on. That’s what you’d use over a diminished chord.Because of its symmetric nature it’s the same scale, but you want to start it from a different place depending on the context. Put another way, A half whole diminished is the same as G whole half.

It has no context, I don't really see the point either.
