The notion that the Yanks could do no wrong, nothing really bad ever happened to them, and they were intimidating. I was 18 in ‘04 when the Sox won, the Pats were on fire as well, it was an INCREDIBLE 20 year run, the likes of which I don’t think another city will ever experience again. This is the game that makes you wonder why the hell Curt Schilling is not in the HOF. It's not only this game of course, he was an ace for the D-Backs to get their first and only WS until now, he was the ace with Pedro Martinez to help break the Curse of the Bambino and he was the mentor for the next ace Josh Beckett and helped to win the 2007 WS. He retired on top. Honestly if an injury like the one he had, happened to a pitcher today I seriously doubt that pitcher would even throw a pitch, he would be from his house watching the games.

He has always been a Red Sox fan and we watched this whole series at home with my older brother. The next day later just minutes before ALCS game 7 starts the Cardinals force Game 7 of NLCS with a walk off HR by Jim Edmonds to win 6-4 in 12 innings. So that made it 2 straight games with Walk off HR but it was different in ALCS because there was a HR in game 4 but it was a single in game 5. Btw there were 2 game 7’s in both LCS in 2004.

In my opinion this is where the Yankees choke the hardest in the series besides Game 4. They're at home, in front of the home crowd of 55,000 people, and they have Lieter on the mound who stifled the Red Sox in Game 2 at Yankee Stadium. They end up falling behind 4-0, but don't really put together a rally until the 8th, when they make it 4-2. Then comes the A-Rod bitch slap, which causes Jeter to score at first. But it's reversed, and that takes the wind out of the Yankees sails completely. They never recovered.

Usually the Red Sox would get screwed by the missed Bellhorn home run call or the blatant ARod interference @13:40. Schilling was on the ‘93 Phillies. After Mitch Williams gave up the series winning homer to Joe Carter, Williams did a post game where the philly writers were totally hammering him, it was embarrassing. Schilling came out, said enough is enough, we wouldn’t even be in the series without Williams, grabbed Williams and got him out of there. Schilling didn’t have to do that.

Tony Clark twice had a chance in this series to be this ALCS Aaron Boones. In game 5, in the top of the 9th inning with two outs and a runner on first base, Clark hit a double that would have scored the runner, but the ball went into the stands and the runner could not score. Yankees did not score that inning and lost later. In this game 6, down by 2 runs, with two runners on, bottom ninth, two outs, and he made an out to end this game 6. Imagine if he hit a home run in that at-bat to win the AL pennant on a home run for the second consecutive season. Wow!!!

2 teams with the worst fan bases in baseball. It is not surprising they needed cops to intervene here. The yanks fans were getting pissed off because a couple of incorrect calls were overturned. The umps got BOTH the calls on the home run and A-Rod correct in the end!! Yet the Yanks fans get all butt hurt. Don't they have replays in the stadium?
