The original protest was against a General Lee statue being taken down. There were protestors who supported it, and those against it. There were people against it who weren’t white supremacists. Its a historical statue. And on the left, there were people who wanted it taken down. Some peaceful, some antifa or violent protestors. There was good on both sides, and bad on both sides.

This is what made Martin Luther King such a wonderful leader, he always denounced violence. You can not use violence in any way, shape, form, or fashion, and come out on the winning end. Once you engage in acts of violence that's it, claims are over, complaints go right down the drain. No one is right. When two groups act out, no one is to blame for violence unless it's self defense. The KKK is not right by any means. This hate group, like so many other hate groups must be extinguished. Anyone who hates another group or human being should be cut off from the world. Now back to President Trump. If we become one sided in our thinking, how can we even begin to understand an argument. Trump made a valid point concerning that both sides were engaged in violence. It's difficult for anyone who has morals to see the KKK marching with torches like the 1940s and 50s. And not think, what a shame. But it's also just as shameful for other hate groups to come out with their evil attacks on other human beings. Bottom line is, let the flag stay, who cares! If we're going to get rid of one flag, we might as well get rid of all of them because they all have a horrible signature of why they exist in the first place. It's all plan evil!!! President Trump should learn how to address problems. He just doesn't have a clear head. He has a one track mind and that's not good for a President. Everybody want's to choose sides and bicker, but all sides are wrong. Again, Martin Luther King said it better than anyone, No violence! You can argue when a person strikes you first, or if a person strikes you and you respond by walking away and reporting it, but you have no argument if you attack that individual with viciousness like what we just witnessed in Charlotte.

1. Yes, but he condemned hatred, bigotry and violence on "both sides". When he's making remarks in the context of an incident involving White Supremacists on one side and people protesting white supremacy on the other side it's kind of a one sided thing. 2. He didn't make those comments here. They were said in private. And when there have been multiple reports from first hand witnesses over multiple years from different individuals it doesn't really give him a lot of credibility.
