Yes. Previously. Trump's order is what is illegal. He's trying to revoke existing, black letter law, that states that the people applying for asylum are here LEGALLY. He, nor any other president, has the authority to override existing law and Federal judges, from both sides of the aisle, will be putting a stay on Trump's illegal, executive order. If you're here illegally, fine, get deported. But, Trump is trying to deport people here legally. Why? Because the govt already knows who and where they are, making them easy pickins for ICE, so they parade them in front of cameras so people like you can cheer the cruelty of it. It's pretty twisted that Trump would even make such a proclamation in the first place, after whining about how people 'need to come here in the right way'. A bunch of people they're rounding up right now were doing exactly what they were supposed to be doing, following the law.
