No. Treason either requires aiding a country with whom we are war, or making war against the US government. A few thousand idiots with no real support from any kind of government does not constitute a war. This would be sedition, an attempt to overthrow the government by eliminating it's leaders. There have been very few treason or sedition cases actually successfully prosecuted in the US and most were a result of the civil war. Even the Rosenburgs, the spies who gave Russia the Nuclear bomb, weren't convicted of treason because we were never officially at war with Russia.

I thought so to at first, but a you tube channel legal egeal showed me it's not. In the usa treason is very directly and narrowly defined. And requires military action or involvement with it in some way. That's why something like this is an insurrection charge instead, cause it's not military action directly against or aideing in military action against the country. I guess they defined it so narrowly because before treason was basically what ever the king wanted it to be. I may be missing some of the finer points. But technically, it's not treason as we define it by law in the usa.
