The lobbyists, the companies. You see the smiles on their faces every day. What a good job you must be doing. In your town, the only town that exists. Washington D.C. With the only population that lives there, those with the wealth to thank you and smile. You really are doing good to your populace, from your perspective. Interesting question. Believe it or not, that position being a Cabinet position is at the discretion of the sitting president. Currently, Biden includes it as a member of the Cabinet. In recent decades, Reagan, Clinton and Obama included the UN ambassador in their Cabinets, while George H.W. Bush and George W. Bush did not. The interesting thing about Trump is that he changed gears mid stream. When Haley was ambassador, Trump made her a member of the Cabinet. However, when she left in '18, Trump decided not to include her replacement as a member.
