This is how servie members should operate and your son, bless him and you too, did the right thing in not leaving anyone behind. ...and to Air Force Technical Sgt. John Chapman. Your Medal will be given to your family on the 22nd of August. You were that 'one team mate' who lead the way up that hill. You provided the cover so those Navy Seals could safely reposition themselves and you drew fire away from the second group of American QR forces landing on that mountain top before you were killed, fighting for almost a hour, sometimes hand to hand, all by yourself, against overwhelming odds. My God what courage and what a man....may you now rest in peace with the highest honor now yours from a grateful nation....You truly gave the last full measure.

Slabinski, from everything I’ve read, should not have been upgraded from the Navy Cross to CMH. TSgt. Chapman saved his life and the lives of the other SEALS who retreated down the mountain. It also appears the SEALS tried to block the upgrade from the Air Force Cross to the CMH for Chapman in order to save face for SEAL Team 6. How do you give the CMH to both when one saved the life of the other, and Chapman was left for dead, even though Slabinski claims he thought Chapman was dead? I do not mean to imply that Slabinski and the rest of his team were not brave; they certainly were. I just think the politics and rivalries which exist inside of the different branches in general, and Spec Ops in particular, created a situation where two CMHs were awarded when only Chapman truly deserved it.

We will get over Trump once he is out of office. Hindsight is always 20/20, which is to say that if the American people had the advantage of knowing what they know now about Trump, they would have seen him for the buffoon that he was and is. Doubtful he would have been elected. It is not the Office that makes the man, rather the man that makes the Office; you either have integrity or you don't. He is president, but he, yes he, brings such shame to the office by his conduct. The guy is selfish, a blatant hypocrite, a prolific lair, a racist, and obnoxious to the extreme. Oh, did I forget to mention that he is a draft-dodging coward. It pays to have a rich dad like Fred Trump who can buy a draft deferment for his son. The working class in American didn't have that luxury, and some of these sons didn't come back from Vietnam. It is like saying Vladimir Putin was elected President of Russia, so we should respect him "good or bad" for the office that he holds.
@williamcattr2674 жыл бұрын
@Michaelangeo Re A hashtag movement? No, it is something much more than that. It is a long-lost thing called "integrity." And a leader without this important character ingredient does not have the respect of the people they took an oath to lead. As for hashtags if that is what you are into, how about this one: #BootPOTUSoutIn2020 Now I like that one!
@williamcattr2674 жыл бұрын
@Michaelangeo Re Never said it was. But one follows closely on the heels of another. As you pointed out, "You can be mean as hell and still keep your integrity." Yes, but you won't have much respect from people that you treat mean. So, as a leader, be NICE, have integrity, and the respect will not be long in coming from those that you lead.
@williamcattr2674 жыл бұрын
@Michaelangeo Re Oh, so that's a fact now is it, really? Qualify that statement and cite sources if it is not too much of an imposition. Because I do not settle for hearsay or lay opinions.

This operation took the lives of seven men and wounded over twice as many more. It was ill conceived and started to unravel, literally when it got off the ground. So many things went wrong, yet they forged ahead and blindly blundered into a fortified position, taking many casualties. Then things got worse. Much heroism. Bad leadership.
@waynebrinker80956 жыл бұрын
The facts surrounding the "battle of Takur Ghar " are well known and I am correct in my assertion. The US military has a history of coverups after action including the awarding of honours to obscure facts. All Americans should be aware of Pat Tillman's story. Please look at it. lol the Seal's allegedly attempted to block Chapman's Medal of Honor, as that would result in an admission that they left Chapman behind. When it became apparent that it could not be blocked, it was further alleged that they put the commander of the operation, Britt Slabinski, up for the Medal of Honor, which he received in May 2018. Here's the truth

Well done. I'm only leaving a comment here for this brave soldier as its the first platform I saw this on. Normally wouldn't go near CNN as this soldier was fighting the very bastards and ideology that mainstream media seems to defend for some reason. Keep up the fight and it is actually nice to see the President take it very personally and give genuine support to the Armed Forces. I'm ex Army but not from US, so love to see a comrade in arms getting just deserves, bravo, stay safe and keep up the good fight....true champion.

Thank you is so small a statement. Admiration and love is better, but still doesn't satisfy the enormity of it all.... We are forever in your debt and lovingly so.

I've heard a lot of CMOH citations over the years and this one is a bit light on the standard. Should've probably been a navy cross and not upgraded but from the stories about this award in particular, it seems politics played a part in it. The USAF Technical Sergeant Chapman was most assuredly going to posthumously receive the highest award for his actions but the Navy tried to block the recommendation. This would be because there was no initial recommendation for any of the Seals and it would look embarrassing for them to have an operator from a perceived softer branch of military be the most valiant among the men that day. They couldn't get the block or the downgrade so they had to choose one of their own to have an upgrade to be on equal valor status as an Air Force NCO. Don't get me wrong, all the men on that mountain were heroes that day and deserve respect and admiration but the sad truth is that the branches are competitive and politics do happen. The Seals are a world renown elite group of operators but all branches have equally skilled personnel in the SPEC OPS community. The Pararescue training for Airman is as grueling and stringent as the Seals training but is longer and more comprehensive than the Navy's, but because their mission is to rescue rather than assault it isn't perceived to be as sexy. Ask any Special Forces operator from any branch and they will say that no matter who they are working with, be it airman, marines, army or navy operators, they are all exemplary professionals who are quite capable of their respective roles and specialties, enlisted, commissioned and warrant officers alike. There is more inter branch mission teams used than ever before and that's a good thing but sadly some senior brass of some branches still want a preferred "pecking order" as to which operational groups get the the lion's share of glory.

NOONE is left to die! Clearly you have never been in a fire fight! Instead of spewing nonsense about a subject you clearly know nothing about how about you think what it is like to have to make the decision to pull back to save the lives of many knowing others will die. No man wants to be in that position and only the brave can make the decision and be haunted by it
@niclas87774 жыл бұрын
@@fubarmofo6969 actually the reason it took so long for him to get the award was because of the question on whether he did or didn't leave a man behind to die
