With Greenland, it's mostly probably just a posturing however Greenland is asking for independence from Denmark. Denmark doesn't have really the means to defend it in a world war and The yearly revenue of Greenland is only 4 billion a year which we could easily subsidize. It also would hold extreme tactical value to the US and has lots of oil which they want to drill but Denmark will not allow them to do so. Make of this what you will
