It seems more likely he was aiming for suicide by cop, with the added bonus of becoming posthumously famous. If he had a beef with Trump, his reasoning very possibly would make no sense to you or me. He might have said, "Trump has to go, because he is not going to do anything about the problem of earwig infestations." It might literally make that little sense. Such was the case with John Hinckley Jr.....his reasoning made almost no sense.
