As a Civil Engineer who works with local municipalities on drinking and wastewater projects this is going to have a huge negative impact on all of them. Most of the grants I see clients receiving are because they ABSOLUTELY need them to improve the quality of their treatment so they can provide potable water to their customers or not pollute waterways. Not to mention the huge amount of grants being given at the moment for emerging contaminants. Hope everyone loves drinking PFAS….

I gotta side with Niall on this one. Pausing all grant funding across the US puts many great programs and vulnerable populations in jeopardy. Disaster relief, State's Medicaid and Medicare are hugely dependent on federal grant money. I'm the first to be happy about getting rid of woke politics, it has been a nightmare and has created a censorship industrial complex that has essentially turned into thought-policing but to stop all federal grants across the board is ridiculous and most federal grants have nothing to do with woke politics.

Then the states need to get off the dole. The federal government has been making states dependent on it, thus controlling them by threatening to take away it's money that it depends on. It's 'welfare' on a state level, leaving the states as much a prisoner to the feds as the individuals are. The states need to take over these programs fully, and stop wasting their money internally. Someone mentioned 'meals on wheels'.... why the heck is that a 'federal' program in the first place? Why are 'art grants' a federal thing? If the state wants art, they can pay for it themselves. If they dont' have the money for 'art', then maybe art isn't 'the right priority for spending.

100% correct... I work in Financial Aid in a Community College and it's like the apocalypse here. (For perspective, I am slightly right of center politically.) DEI is a problem... but mainly at 4 year colleges, and especially 4 year institutions. We serve students who struggle academically, middle aged adults looking for an opportunity to increase their earning potential... and yes, minorities as well. Some faculty here are brainwashed with the "Woke Mind Virus"... but as a rule, this community college is the only way for some people to educate themselves enough to pursue a respectable career. Trump's action today has done little more than created chaos. Much like Biden couldn't forgive Student Loan Debt via E.O.... Trump can't rescind congressionally awarded funding. This will get overturned in the courts, and Trump will look foolish and have given more ammo to his detractors. I wish he would have put together a commission or fact finding team to research this before just creating chaos.
