I was in Canadian military when the Vax first rolled out and got it. And after being fully vaxed I then caught COVID 3 times. And I was sick as a dog after the 2nd shot from the shot, so the whole thing seemed like a complete waste. If I wasn't military at the time, I don't think I would've gotten it.

More than 8000 refused. Many more had time in to retire and chose to do that and keep benefits rather than be dishonorably discharged and lose current and future benefits. So that number is not accurate to be “only 8000”

I think its fine that the military can make certain inoculations mandatory. Its just a matter of military readiness. You can't have half a platoon of men sick with malaria for instance if they are deployed to the jungle and refused to take the vaccine. However you should never face dishonorable discharge because you decline a new medical treatment, especially one with an emergency use authorization with all of its trial data sealed away from the public. If the military wants to mandate a new treatment and you choose to opt out, you should be able to walk away with your benefits intact.

I'll also point out that the first effective smallpox vaccine was invented in 1796 so whatever he forced them to take before that was more snake oil than vaccine.

So, back then, what Washington had them do is to lance (cut into) a pustule on somebody infected with smallpox, and then stick that scalpel into a "healthy' person, and then that person would usually develop a very mild form of smallpox. This proved to be quite effective. It wasn't a "mystery jab" that came out of a lab in a matter of months.

(Navy) I accepted that I needed certain vaccines to be deployed, but these vaccines have been around for many years, have significant historic data and a well established track record (As well as actually preventing the illnesses). These new jabs had questionable safety and efficacy, and didn't have the history behind them. They also obviously didn't prevent infection. As a military guy, I hate the fact that it clearly doesn't prevent the spread, or infection, but we were constantly told it does. Most importantly, having people jabbed didn't change the processes that were implemented at work if/when someone tested positive, so it's redundant to the question of operational effectiveness and nobody should have had adverse admin for refusing.

The covid mandate we know now was based on assumptions that did not pan out. It did not eliminate completely the risk of getting sick. It only reduced the severity in older people or people with pre-existing conditions. It did more bad side effects than good in young males. It did not make us less contagious. It should have been targeted to the elderlies or people w aggravating factors. This population could alternatively have chosen to stay confined, instead of confining the entire country.
