His hobby was looking into tax fraud, tax evasion and how few people knew of using states tax practices from not paying attention to a company that had businesses in another state. No background check. He was asked by a county to look into what they couldn't figure out but knew this company was breaking laws. He had just wrote a article for NY Times or someone and he tracked it down. Forensic Accounting. So Trump heard of him and was on a low point. He approached him thinking Johnson would be impressed and he could ask him to help him cheat on taxes. Johnson said I would need you to give me all your paperwork. He was joking but Trump said ok.
