If you are going to allow lobbyists of any kind, then you have to allow the labor unions to lobby as well. All lobbyists give money and other benefits they likely shouldn't be to politicians in exchange for getting their people represented at the table over the constituents if at all possible. Lobbyists run the country in a nutshell. There should be no money exchanges allowed of any kind between any organizations and government officials or their PACs. Individual citizen donations only. The current caps are fine.

Clearly the way they work now isn’t great, but honestly it’s also clear that our “capitalism” isn’t working either. Having recent personal experience with how private equity works I can say without a doubt that the whole industry as it stands is completely anti-average guy, it’s just evil and does nothing but extract wealth at the expense of everything good about a free market. Ideally govt would regulate them but that won’t happen either. So in my mind we have thru forces - the people (unions), govt and corporations/PE - and all three are corrupt and aren’t working correctly.
