I don't understand. When I was a child my family immigrated too. It took years of waiting in our country of origin. You just don't show up at the border and claim asylum. We did not leave and show up until approved. Why is it different now? Plus, claiming "asylum" is for war zones. I can understand claimants from Gaza and the Ukraine or the persecuted ethnic minorities in Burma. But South America is where people go and visit. None of these asylum seekers south of the border should be allowed in ... at all.

I understand the pain of these people in Afghanistan but they have to also understand our president's job is to prioritize the needs of their citizens first. How would they like it if their own government prioritized foreigners over them? There are homeless veterans, people who need medical and social services after a lifteme of contributing to the service. They should be prioritized. If their life is at stake, they should try to take asylum in neighboring countries, not just in Europe or the United States.

I’m original from Germany. Yesterday, a 2 year old little boy who was on a field trip with his day care,in a park, got stepped with a knife ( an afghan illegal man), a man in the park, trying to help was also stepped, both did die . I believe the kindergarten teacher and another child, also stepped are in the hospital and will survive. When will enough be enough?? And now they did put him in mental hospital, not jail. They even tell us he has mental problems because of all The bad things he has seen in Afghanistan. And one person even says we don’t have enough Psychologists who speak their language. I’m just sooo upset. I live in the US since many years, now my kids are adults and I was thinking about to move back, im homesick.
