Sociopaths are unable to reflect (reason with themselves) but instead just act on impulse so really can't argue to themselves that they did nothing wrong on that day. They remember what they did (vaguely) but also quite passively recall how many called it bad, horrific, scary etc and that sits in their memory as vividly as the "day of love" terms used. Trump wants clever people to tell him he was a good boy that day because he can't himself let go of the very negative terms he heard uttered by so many people. That is why he is so dangerous; he spends his whole life trying to feel powerful and in complete control because without those sensations triggered by making others do things under his command he senses his own utter emptiness. Hence he will only get worse and want more and more control over more things,people, countries because nothing will really fill that emptiness.
