Great now where's the US Steel that's going to fill the gap of the lost Japanese steel? The US steel industry is gutted. The industrial economy of the 19th and 20th century has been dead since the 1990's. Now you're going to be paying more for steel, because it's more expensive to get it from domestic producers than it is to import it from foreign producers. With a population of 330 million and growing the demand for steel for housing and construction is the highest in decades. This would be economic suicide.

@dirge898222 күн бұрын
@TravisHouts Yeah okay. They're economic geniuses. That's why they've ensured their followers are also economic geniuses. Like tariffs for instance. Tariffs are a tax on US importers of foreign goods, AKA, every major retailer in America. They pay the tariff. But they didn't bother to tell you people that. So you expect prices to go down, inflation to magically dissappear, when businesses are paying a 60% tax on imports, and taxes have been slashed, so revenue goals won't be met by the IRS, meaning less money to pay down the deficit, meaning higher inflation. And there is no way and hell they will cut enough government expenditures to match the loss of revenue from the tax cuts, meaning the US will have to borrow more, further devaluation of the dollar. But you're the geniuses lol.

too many misunderstandings Nippon Steel's management is moving toward acquisitions simply because they want to make U.S. Steel the number one steel company in the world.
