Which is to then ask the question, who knew what and when did they know it. There had never been a debate before the conventions of Republicans and Democrats. Why this time? Lots of gerrymandering in that state. That's how Jordan keeps getting reelected. Some cities that had a factory influence and lots of middle class people, had those factories close up. I grew up in Lima,Ohio . There used to be superior Coach,BLH train factory,Westinghouse, Excello,and many others. About the only factory's left are the oil refinery and one that made munitions (or something like that). Only real jobs around are shopping centers,fast food. There's a few other thing,but not like in the 60's on back. What I'm saying is,lots of southern blacks moved north hoping to get union jobs at those factories. Some moved on up to Michigan for auto industry jobs. When the factories closed the whites moved to states where factories were. Then the blacks got blamed for factories closing. Wasn't peoples fault. Companies moved businesses overseas for cheap labor. That where a lot of the racism comes from.
