Would it make a difference if he did? Freedom of the press means nothing if it is controlled through big corporations. And the press in general hasn't been delivering news for a long time. What it broadcasts is primarily opinion and reaction to reactions, by politicians and by other broadcasters, and all that opinion is in the service of various political and social agendas - take your pick of which political wings and which agendas, they're all there. But there is no news, effectively.

@Sherluck93 "Experts" in what? Delivering spins? Obfuscating? Misleading? Misrepresenting? Yes, there are experts on subject areas, sometimes interviewed. But they are generally cut short if the answer doesn't suit the interviewer, interrupted by something else when the broadcaster grows impatient. And too often, the interviewer doesn't know enough to be able to ask intelligent questions. And many intelligent answers are truncated because the broadcast is willing to allot only a certain amount of time, usually very short in itself. It's like demanding that a complex and nuanced reply be done in bullet-item form. These are only a few ways in which real information dissemination is subverted all too often.

Freedom of the Press is not "fragile" in America, where that freedom is robust and protected in the Constitution. The Press does not have the legal right to lie or directly use it's platform to intentionally lie during an election. The Iowa-Register published an outlier poll. It was off by more than 14 points. Did they intentionally release this adherent poll in order to sway the election results? A lawsuit will learn this through the legal act of DISCOVERY. Future. One needs to look at the post capitalist situation. We exist in, a time where corporations have superseded national governance and control the levers of power including journalism. So, searching for what comes after the post capitalist era and maybe suggesting new 'Models' of possibilities. Journalists can think creatively about a evolving post, post capitalist era and present new possibilities from their vast informed knowledge. They could also present suggestions that 'Nobody cares' people, ie voiceless people or another way of putting it the majority of people that voice their concerns in non-coherent forms on social media in bits and pieces. Journalists could edit, recognise and empower these sentients and thus create a inclusive public forum. That forum could lead to a new beautiful and exciting way forward and mankind could have a clear important way to go forward out of this Mais of disruption and mayhem.

The problem is that the best we have available to us are eye-witness accounts. That job is called 'journalist'. And they cost, say, 400,000 a year to employ. Probably more if you take camera crews and support staff into account. If you think 'MSM are corrupt' then you don't really have a better alternative available to you. Because that person you prefer over the MSM also gets his news from these same journalists and is only an extra layer of potential misinformation.

By the same token, I don't think all of these CEOs would have paid Trump if they didn't think it was worth the money in the end. I don't think the journalists would be worried if they felt it was an honest threat to them and their livelihood. It is just this kind of attitude that will let us head down that path unfortunately.
