Harris's nail in the coffin happened in the View interview. "What would you differently, from the past 4 years?" "Nothing comes to mind." Here was her chance to say she would address the issues Americans been feeling/having, and she like, nope there was nothing wrong these past 4 years. This was not during a heated debate; it was the View, a fluff interview, where the hosts support her. How can she failed this big there? Biden then Harris's main campaign were, they were not Trump. Don't focus on Trump, focus on the issues.

It’s perception vs reality in a nutshell. The problem was optics (perception) in that situation. Biden, despite being an objectively above average president by almost every metric, was almost universally disliked by everyone center right and nobody on the left was enthusiastic about voting for him. In a logical timeline, saying you wouldn’t do anything differently is probably fine because in a logical timeline voters are well informed about policy and the issues at hand, all of which were better under Biden than any administration in the last 30 years. The reality is, if nobody likes Biden, which they don’t, then saying you wouldn’t do anything differently, in spite of almost all of it being good, gives no justification to the voters to change their perception of you or the sitting president. There was no good way to go about answering that question without lying and betraying the administration that got you to the point of being a legitimate presidential candidate. Kamala would’ve basically had to go against things she supported during the administration that did net good for the American people in order to change public perception.

The way the Democrats ran this campaign was the same as Clinton’s - not identifying with the most critical issues of the silent majority, and instead relying on political establishment, celebrity endorsements (because they know exactly what it’s like to have to choose between groceries and childcare), and focussing on issues like reproductive rights that although are quite rightly important, are principles that are not at the top of most peoples agenda (which is likely to be the economy, inflation and immigration - which they were in this election) Once is a mistake. Twice is a choice. Elections aren’t won trying to appeal a loud minority (Corbyn) - find out what’s most important to the majority of people, state clearly what you’ll do to make those issues better, then you can get in to power and do those things, as well as deal with the issues most important to the the loud minority

It was far more dangerous than that - it was a democratisation of the party. I always love these videos because there's so much truth in them. As a Colombian American who's parents were illegal immigrants, I voted for Trump. Do I agree with all his policies? No. Do I think he's a clown? Yes. Do I think he was the better option? Absolutely. The fact is, the middle class is struggling badly in this country. We are tired of pointless regime change wars (I'm a former Marine) that dont benefit us. We are tired of the divisiveness of the left and how they racialise everything to fit their agenda. We are tired of The View and other liberal Karens just like them telling us that we are bigots for not supporting the next social cause without any questions. And yes, while I'm biased and I think we need to seriously fix our immigration system to weed out parasites to our society and welcome people who are willing to work and contribute, we have a crisis at our Southern border which needs to be taken care of. We are tired of the radical LGBT agenda that is ever present everywhere to include kids books and movies. And if I may say so frankly, as a man, I'm tired of leftist feminist policies and the constant misandry in our media that just paints all men as scumbags and rapists. Men, especially black and Hispanic men turned the vote in favor of Trump. Democrats were shocked and the reason for it is simple. If you constantly demonize us and say we are toxic for not being a male feminist, then don't be surprised that we don't vote for you. Harris stood for very little other than abortion and the fact that she's a woman of color. She always avoided answering difficult questions, deflected blame to Trump, and was clearly in favor of more feminist policies. Thats not someone I want as a president. She lost and deserved every bit of it.

No he's missing the point. There were plenty of reasons to vote democrat, but people are too stupid to care or understand policy. Biden was the most pro-union president in decades. Kamala ran on expanding the child tax credit, making homes more affordable, expanding healthcare,... Those are the issues that made Bernie Sanders so popular in 2016. But none of that matters anymore. The tipping point at which people's desperation becomes blind hate and irrationality has been crossed. Now they don't care about healthcare - not as much as they care about keeping alleged mexican murderers out of the country, or what sports teams the queers can be part of. Heck, Trump didn't even explain his policies - all he said was: _"I'm gonna have the best policies, it's gonna be so great, you won't even have to vote again."_ And people *BOUGHT THAT!*

Sometimes you must have destruction to then have creation. And that is where we as a country (and in meny places the world as a whole. Especially in the western countries. I've always loved Pie, not the least for his consistency by delivering, as if from a script, all the exact same talking points about 'fascist dictator' Orange Man, that the legacy media shoehorned Joe and Kamala into oblivion with. Keep up the great work Jonathan.

You'd think the near decade of ping-ponging between parties would tell the elites that nobody's happy with the status-quo.
@lacdirk2 ай бұрын
Ping-ponging between two parties is literally what the US (and UK) system has always been. Changing that either means going all the way to a one-party state, i.e. the current trajectory in the US, or completely changing the electoral system and the constitution.

Funnily enough I think it's a rare miss for Walker. Pie _usually_ tells it like it _actually_ is right - he's _not_ meant to be ironic (i.e. mistaken) ? But Harris spoke about policy often, as far as i'm aware rarely played on her race, the Dems explained why tariffs will be bad for ordinary working people and tax cuts for the rich won't help the poor etc. So all his venting was just flat wrong this time IMO (even I heard the basics of that stuff and i'm in the UK so either the fault is with the US media because US voters didn't get it _or_ the fault is at least partly with voters for ignoring the information - either way, that element doesn't seem to be Harris or the Dems' fault ?).
@ramblerandy23972 ай бұрын
@@anonymes2884 I think the difference was that Harris barely ever told people what she would make possible, if elected. but she did indeed tell people what Trump would do. In comparison, Trump trotted out the old MAGA lie time and again, just as much as he verbally attacked Harris.
@LewGGG2 ай бұрын
@@anonymes2884spot on. UK here too. Saw more of Trump's rallies and got absolutely nothing out of it other than lies, uneducated and vague economic bile and vile insults/divisive language. Saw far less of Kamala's rallies, interviews etc, yet got actual policies. Actual numbers and figures and how it would benefit the many, not the few. People just ignored it, the media ignored it, or it wasn't pushed as much as it was by the propaganda machine that Trump has built online. His best achievement in his career is building that. He can simply lie outright and obviously. People will not question him and defend him to literal death. Crazy world we're living in. Can't wait to move to somewhere more sane than what either of the UK and US have become😂

Defeating a guy who only two months ago was screaming about people eating cats and dogs should have been a cake walk, and the Democrats still couldn’t defeat him. It’s embarrassing.

Only because nothing he says or does matters. The choice was between a revolution and an evolution, and they chose revolution. No different from the UK chosing brexit: they largely know it's a dumb idea that cannot really work, but the good ideas are a lot of work, and involve compromise.

The Democrats are imbeciles. I'm not using the term metaphorically here. Their answer to a populist right-wing candidate who ran on a ticket of 'draining the swamp' was Hillary Clinton - the same Clinton who had inhabited said swamp for thirty years. Thirty. Years. They then found their great white hope, Joe Biden, a man who quite literally had Alzheimer's when he ran against Trump. The problem with the pyrrhic victory he won should not hard to spot: the same demented individual would be seen in public for *four years* bumbling his words and fluffing his lines, while young people and young men in particular saw their life opportunities destroyed, their incomes decimated, and their prospects ruined by an economic system that benefits the very group Biden is a part of. They only needed to turn on their TV to see a reminder of just how easy it is for some - the kind who grew up during the post-war Golden Age, who could feed a family and own a house on the salary of a semi-skilled worker. Trump, who benefitted from the same fortune but inherited the best part of a billion dollars, promised them a return to the 'good old days' and they took it. The Dems, meanwhile, opted for Harris, a woman so inept she came fourth in her state primary. Fourth. In California. Biden now could do a better job from the nursing home. And they wonder why they failed to win a majority. If your policies are 'business as usual' and your candidates are third-rate, don't be surprised when you lose to the huckster with big ideas. They should have learned their lesson in 2016, but they're so arrogant and dim-witted they refused to. They'll probably pick Michelle Obama for 2028.
