I had that kit also and the decals were trashed, I did get a new dauphin and made it a USCG version. You build looks great you did great with the instrument panel.

I think you should build the kits, but invest in some After Market decals.. :) My son will probably buy me the Hasegawa 1/48 P-40 E as a treat this week, and I'm looking forward to building that later this year, if I can get one..

Thank you :) Had I remembered on time how troublesome glossy white paint is to me, I would´ve painted this kit in a personal pattern; say, overall metallic blue with white marks, or something like that...

What a great disapointment to me on the quality of Trumpeter´s decals... I also have a 1/72 Curtiss P-40B Tomahawk and a Hawker Sea Fury FB.Mk.11 by Trumpeter, but despite the awesome quality of the pieces in both kits, if I´m to have the same decals problems as with this one, then I may either forget about them or use other decals.

Trumpeter instructions are a bit dodgy, yes... You need to do some research before and during assembly, especiually of their tanks, as they don't always tell you to use the correct parts... Well, you may have had some 'trouble' with the decals and more, but the end result is still very good, I have to say... :) Nice recovery... :)

The problem is that so far I couldn´t find After Market decals anywhere... As for Hasegawa´s 1/48 Curtiss P-40, they are superb kits, with highly detailed cockpits. As far as I know, Hasegawa has made six or seven 1/48 P-40s. I´ve got four of them (not all of them built). Really good experts say that these kits are so good that they need few improvements, if any at all. A friend of mine, who is a pilot, once gave me a book on how to work on scale P-40s, and they praise Hasegawa´s products.

Unfortunately, right now I only have one or two stands free for new kits, so unless there´s a heavy earthquake here that destroys all of my kits, I don´t know what will it be about all my undone kis... Thanks for the comment, though.

Thanks, but if you want to try this kit, I seriously recommend you to have in hand decals of a different (and better) brand, because in most likelihood the kit decals will fail to you (too fragile, and they do no adhere so well).
