Trumpeter Fairey Fulmar Part 4: Painting and Weathering plus final reveal

Great result, Jamie. You just can't beat a well weathered FAA aircraft that looks like it's been on duty just a little too long between maintenance breaks. A very fine line between perfect and overdone which you have not crossed. You must be very pleased.

Another great video, Jamie! The Fulmar looks wonderful. I need to try painting chips rather than using chipping fluid. I had a few disasters recently, where some areas were unmasked and paint came off where I didn't want it to. This happened all while using lacquers, which surprised me.

Did you wipe the model with alcohol before you started? I usually do but didn't this time and you can see in the video a few small places where the tape pulled up the paint. I'm going to from now on

@@thescalemodellingcafe I did not, because I put down chipping fluid prior to applying the top color coat. I would think the alcohol would react with the chipping fluid. I think it's more of me spraying on too much chipping fluid, so when I applied the MRP color over that it created a weak layer between the MRP and underlying coat of aluminum.

It's weird seeing the black and white underwing scheme from the RAF on an FAA subject.

It wasn't an RAF scheme, it was a British Air Ministry scheme, the RN did align and take their lead from the Ministry but occasionally modified the instructions for local use.

I felt bad for the FAA before better fighters from Grumman and Vought showed up.

Actually the Seafire III was the best naval point defence fighter of the war with better speed, rate of climb at low level and had the best firepower.

Brilliant finish dude!! Loved the oil paintwork! , something I keep meaning to do more off! What brown did you use for the oil stains? Something I do a lot of on my models and feather keep buying pre mix I want to mix more on my own. Again fantastic finish really enjoy a blue watch at the dumb hour I'm up at for no reason!😁

I mixed some Brown, green and yellow to make an oily tone.

Hi Jamie, great vid again! One question: you mentioned that MRP Matt finish leaves a nice sheen. That is my experience too. But hey, I sometimes struggle to get flat finish for some areas (like tyres, dusty spots etc). What is your solution? What kind of varnish you use if you need really flat finish? THX for the answer.

For a proper flat finish I use VMS
