It only has 2/3 cards that you need to draw by turn 7 in order to win, otherwise you lose. It's not a great counter.

The probability of drawing one of those cards assuming you have 3 is pretty good. By turn 7 you should have drawn more than a third of the deck, up to about half. Just look at all of the decks in the past which were built around finding reno before they die. Control shaman isn't the best counter yes, but it's the idea of a healing deck. That match if anything hints at many of the main paladin decks destroying this.

Rhyme Bito This mage deck very specifically relies on being able to stall until it has lethal. It has no answers to the massive wall shaman can get out (even doomsayer isn't going to work, they can revive or hex). Even in the worst situation where you only get 1 heal and you somehow lose the joust, you're still probably favored to win. A heal of just 7 is at least 1 extra turn usually.

Dragon Priest is the most solid one. With your hard removal and the brann+librarian combo, you basically do not need to include many lategame cards and can include strong early/mid plays(Like Shadow Madness).

probably a harder deck to play than freeze mage, optimal play are mostly not obvious, but unlike freeze mage you don't just lose if you missplay.

Craft a legendary to use in only one deck? No. If you have enough dust you should craft a legendary which is used a lot and in many decks and is just overall good. Ragnaros, Ysera and Sylvanas are great legendaries, especially to start with, but if you already have those and a few other good legendaries then you can just craft thalnos since he is a pretty decent himself.

The most recent patch has actually made Shaman stronger. The cards they nerfed weren't particularly damaging. Many of the best Shaman lists don't run Rockbiter anymore and Tuskarr can easily be replaced. On the other hand, many of the decks that could keep Shaman in line have been hurt badly by this patch.

However, this deck has a pretty good match-ups against most decks in the meta which is why he won so often. Of course, anything with excessive healing or armour is going to win. But then, they usually win against aggro decks anyway.

Salamander Mike I enjoy it. I think a deck that doesn't only win by having board control or putting minions face is really interesting because you have to plan turns ahead in advance and know your deck well so you can calculate damage. It was very similar to oil rogue back in the day where it's all about careful planning, etc.

as one who plays many games with quickly evolving metas, I can state that I have never, ever, seen a meta that was not "cancer" When control warrior was good, it was cancer. When miracle rogue was good, it was cancer. When secret paladin was good, it was cancer. People will end up playing the strongest deck, and that deck will make other types of decks weak by comparison. If you don't like metas with "cancer" then my honest suggestion to you is to just not play multiplayer games, because they will always, always, be "cancer".

What exactly would you classify as not being cancer? The only thing you left off your list is control. Play an aggressive deck? Cancer. Play a strong midrange deck (Midrange Shaman)? Cancer. Play a clever combo deck? Cancer. Play an interesting deck that utilises the synergy of a particular card (Secret Paladin)? Cancer.
