I've found anything above 9 wins you need an absurd deck cuz everyone has one there not just one that's really good and there is an absurd amount of variance it seems with the state of hearthstone cards

The skill ceiling for Hearthstone seemingly gets lower every other expansion. The closer you are to a certain skill level, the more the game just kind of plays itself, especially in arena. There's the variance of the draft, the variance of the draw, and the variance of the card effects. You and your equally-skilled opponent make the best plays you can every turn and the winner is whoever is luckiest. Once you reach that ceiling, it's like the only real control you have is choosing to make a bad play.

@@Gubberz Depends on the archetype and classes you're drafting. Priest, for example, generally has a lot choices to make in their games but it's true that Paladin and other minion based classes often don't have as many choices. Even still, though, almost every game, there's some choices you could have made differently. They don't always change the outcome but to say that every game is autopilot is not true and kinda just sounds like an excuse that is often said by players to justify not looking at their own plays properly and closely in retrospect to see if there's anything you could have done differently and anything you could take note for the future. Your goal in most card games is not to necessarily make some great plays that will visibly improve your win chance in one game but to make a ton of smaller decisions over many games that will improve your overall winrate compared to other players.

@@Vincentoist To be clear, my comment wasn't about the choices you make during the match as much as it is about your control during the match itself. Yes, you have choices to make. A skilled player surmises what the best paths are and chooses the one with the highest chance of success. But due to the deceptive nature of chance in Hearthstone (even more-so in arena), your match isn't against your equally skilled opponent; your match is against the game's underlying competitive algorithms. Even if you or your opponent has a momentary lapse in judgement that leads to terrible turn, the game's competitive algorithm may still cause a present or incoming random card effect to completely shift who is favored. It's why so many people enjoy the game. Imagine playing poker, but you've shuffled in a bunch of duplicates and designated 30% of the deck wildcards. You're probably in for an exciting time, but it loses a lot of what made it "competitive".

@Little Idols I dont think he did average 8 or 9. I remember when they tracked the winrate for a competition the worlds highest was 8 at most I think. Trump is still doing way above average at the moment (remember 3 is the mean wins)

Octosari over Sir Finely? I haven't watched past draft yet but wow, upgraded hero powers can win you games in arena almost by themselves because of how strong it is especially if you get it early on.

Octosary is a very good card and doesn't warp your deck into having no duplicates. Even if fin is active, there are heropowers ull get offered that are really just not worth it. Octo is the better card majority of games. If it was reno or alex then yes, I'd would pick those over octo. Their reward for having no dups is infinitly better.

@@PJ_20_24 In no world is this true. Octosari is an eight drop that refills your hand, which assumes a lot. No silence, you make it to turn 8, you can play an ultra slow card and that you can reap the benefits of the 8 cards fast enough for it to win you the game. Strong? Yes. But Finley offers you something even better; repeatable, low cost, impactful value that you can weave into your turns. Finley wins games very, *VERY* often over Octosari because he's available as early as turn 2, he transforms the most prominent tool you'll be using most turns, can offer the upgraded DH power which is so powerful that it blows everything out instantly, is low commitment, and can be used in bad matchups to even the playing field. There isn't an archetype that Finley can't allow you to beat.

@@lucasng4712 You don't play around silence, absolutely, but silence is a vulnerability. And it's amplified by the mana or resources you paid for the ability being silenced, and Octosari is costly. My point is that it's yet another scenario that hurts Octosari that doesn't hurt Finley. I'm not worried if my opponent has Hex or Poly when I drop Finley, but it loses me the game if they have it and I play Octosari. That's more of what I'm getting at.

Wrong move choosing the Faerie Dragon over the Mad Bomber as the Scorpio target. Priest can heal or buff their own minions while you don’t have any spells to target enemies. You should have killed the Mas Bomber to leave less options for the Priest.

A lot of legendaries are super bad and not worth playing them as they represent terrible tempo - Archmage Antonidas, Beastmaster Leoroxx, Archivist Elysiana, Sathrovarr, Ysiel Windsinger. He played a 4 mana 5/5 and hero power, my bet is one of those too expensive and anti-tempo legendaries. This actually puts into perspective why the 2 mana 2/3 is so bad - most legendaries suck ass.

I had the crappiest luck for the last 10+ arena runs. I keep thinking the next one is sure to compensate, but I would have had twice the packs if I just invested into packs instead.
