This is such a great piece. I love that we never actually see him and his ex-girlfriend in the cafe. And the way that he says he is a good swimmer, yet is clearly not, indicates his disconnection from truth. I really wanted them to kiss in the shower but I like how it ended. Bravo.

His "ex-girlfriend" was supportive, but the thing is, she really knew him, maybe even more than he knew himself - at least in his sexuality. She even said she saw signs back then. What we see is that he is the case of a person who had repressed their sexuality and attraction (orientation) for a long time. He was always a homosexual but the film was about him finally accepting it and himself.

It's so great how the film makes swimming helps the character reach a better understanding of himself. It makes him feel relaxed, but it also discovers a new and different side to him. Just that connection is beautiful.

Concept: brilliant. Direction: brilliant; Script: convincing and convincingly performed by the actors in the voice-over; Cinematography: almost too perfect to be true. We have film series that go on with endless sequels. We have novels that run 700 pages. We have the power of words and images concentrated in 12 minutes here to present a sea-change in the life of a human being. Remarkable accomplishment.

The subject of someone exploring, thinking or confronting their sexual feelings/desires differs for each person. After all, we all are unique. There is the possibility of someone falling in love with a person regardless of being male or female. For every word/term used to identify sexuality (straight, gay, lesbian, bi,transgender...) there will be some that don't fit the definition.

Pete Donahoo I this respectfully, you have not figured out the depth of this movie. You are thinking on a simple level. I don't mean that to be rude. You're young so you're experience is limited. Try to start being empathetic to other people and to other ways of thinking. This short film is not at all what it seems. Sit still on the couch and watch it quietly and purposely. This movie tells a wonderful emotional journey of a man in 12 minutes(length of film AND length of experience in his real life), nothing more and nothing less. Watch it, as I advised, and watch it repeatedly if at first you don't get it but feel the need to figure it out.Geoff
@dokirb9 жыл бұрын
Geoffrey Hollinden And you're a pretensions twat. Who are you to speak of someone else's experiences and the limitations thereof? Age is not a catalyst for peoples experiences. The guy was simply asking if something had gone wrong. There is no depth or purpose to this short and I am completely at a loss as to how you feel you have the right to comment on any other persons sensibilities or the projection of their being onto what they are watching. I can see what the creator has tried to do, but in my opinion - they failed! Take your condescending opinions and jog on. P.s, I don't mean that respectfully - Show us your empathy now.
@bbrad12189 жыл бұрын
Pete Donahoo The man and women talking are in a pub while the man discusses his feelings about his recent experience. The video shows what the man is describing. The complexity is in the dialog. A very clever way to narrate. The visual helps you see what the swimmer experienced. If you had watched it longer, it would have become more clear.

To me having the sex with girls was just pressure from friends or just to much drinking. Btw not to take away how you feel about your situation just telling you about mine.
