Bro his uncle kidnapped him at 4, so he saw his dad die right in front of him, was then kidnapped by the alien who killed his dad and forced to survive six months in the wilderness JUST TO BEGIN TRAINING with said alien, then got beat up by two saiyans (beings from his own race, one being actual royalty) and saw his mentor killed by one of the saiyans, then had to head to Namek as soon as he healed, got his NECK BROKE by Recoom, then saw his adoptive uncle shanked in front of him by thee most powerful [mortal] being in his universe. Then saw his mentor revived just to get blitzed by Frieza, saw his adoptive uncle explode in front of him, his dad opt to sacrifice his life to battle Frieza on Namek and ultimately believed he died until Shenron told them otherwise a year later.... This was all before the age of 7. It gets worse. Lol Gohan deserves every peaceful moment he's ever gotten.

Trunks helped during the cell saga despite knowing it wouldn't change his timeline because he didn't want this timeline to experience the same, horrible suffering. Seeing gohan living a life of peace would definitely make Trunks happy that he succeeded.

But those experiences and training with Vegeta, made him a lot stronger, yet he was also inexperienced as a fighter, as he never realised the full potential of a Super Sayian, thou similar can be said about the Gohan of his timeline, but they didn't have the warning of Trunks from the future which gave them time to prepare and get stronger, they likely had the mindset of being a Super Sayian, automatically makes you the strongest around, of course, Future Gohan, never truly had time to train himself and had to coach Trunks while also going off to deal with 17 & 18 to save lives! In general, the Cell saga, had a lasting impact upon the series in general, while the Super Goku black, has no real impact and feels more like a after thought as a story, but then I felt the Univeral tourament was rather lacking in terms of story with a worthless plot twist at the end about Zeno, that feels completely out of character for Zeno

I used to put Gohan down a lot for not training and keeping his power up but honestly.... rewatching the series, Gohan deserves this peaceful life. And with Goku and Vegeta always around, even if I want others to get more screen time, I have to acknowledge despite his strength, Gohan was a fighter only because he needed to be, not because he wanted to be. This was the life he always wanted and that's honestly ok. He's successful, strong, in shape, has a happy family, able to take care of them, what more could you ask from a guy?

I'd honestly say this is one of Super's best episodes. Trunks is at yet "another" all-time low, but then he gets to see his beloved mentor in an alternate timeline, living a peaceful life he could never imagine. Only then does he remember that his efforts haven't been in vain and that his fighting has made a difference. It's not terrible for his character.

@Cr102y alright numbnuts, Super is awful. You can say I'm crying about art and animation. Because I am passionate about it. Unlike you, I don't like digital art. Hand drawn art looks 100x better than this. Everything is too brightly lit, the shadows don't match or look good. There is an extreme lack of detail for characters, both in design, size and familiarity. The character designs for Super have been awful. It had a very small amount of highlights in some episodes, but the art and animation is incredibly soulless and uninspired. There's a reason why they had to redo the first few episodes of Super, because of how poorly received it was and how people were upset at the low quality of the animation and art. You act as if this is better than DB, DBZ and GT. GT was the peak of the art style for Dragon Ball as a whole. Sure, things might move slightly smoother with digital animation, but given how needlessy bright and washed out EVERYTHING is, the poor choices for designs and redesigns, the subpar stories and character assassinations (Goku being a prime example. Went from being a fun loving child to a competent and aloof teenager to a loving family man and brilliant tactician, while atating true to himself. Super reverted him to a mentally challenged threat to his own universe.) You're so edgy for saying I'm crying about a passion. It's not my fault you can't grasp how disappointing Super was, how low the bar was set with Super and how it continues to be that with the majority of fans.

It's not disapproval, it's mostly confusion. He is the person that trained him and that he always looked up to but in a timeline i which he has become a totally different person but he is technically still the same person. Trunks is so used to fighting that the thought of just settling down has not even crossed his mind, he can't really picture what that means as his world is on a constant stream of crisis after crisis.

@@Jn-pp5ji To be fair he was the strongest unfused character at the end of Z because of the Kai hacks, already had the highest potential, retrained to reawaken his mystic form after meeting future Trunks during the Black arc, reawakened it during ToP, and then finally got the Beast Form. Given his power comes from Kais, and Goku has an Angel's power while Vegeta has a God of Destructions power for UI and UE, it'd make sense he unlocked his own super form based on the Kai power. Goku, Vegeta, and Gohan all got god powers from silly rituals, Goku and Vegeta learned God Form after holding hands in a circle, Gohan got god powers from sitting and letting Old Kai charge him up.

I could keep going but let's not act like Super sets the bar that Z did when it's really just riding Z'a coattails and has had very questionable moments.

If you think about the timeline difference, after watching Krillin Die, going through hell on Namek, then coming home to lose his father to a sickness and after that everyone he loved to androids to just die in a puddle with 1 arm. "Ive never seen Gohan smile like this" That was a moment that helped "define" both of them. Trunks has only know destruction his entire life, he was an infant when the androids attacked amd that was all he knew until he was able to defeat them, then it was trying to pick up the pieces and rebuild a deatroyed world, then Blacku came along and more of the same. One of the few friends he had was Gohan. It showed how Gohan would talk to Trunks about his hopes and dreams, likely as a way to keep from giving into despair, but that Gohan never got any of that. Then Trunks comes back to the world that is still alive and thriving, because he interveined and warned them. Years later, the Gohan he saw as a little kid is now an adult and has a life he couldn't love more, in a world thats (for the most part) safe. So safe that Gohan has largely cut back if not stopped training. This Gohan got to see the dream that Trunks' Gohan did not. Its also helped affirm that Saiyans, and hybrid saiyans, are a tad bit obsessive. When they have their one thing, they are completely fine with that one thing, except Gohan still seems to be more balanced than Goku and Vegeta. Goku, because of how he was raised, if his loved ones are safe and happy, he doesn't see the need to be around. In his mind if theyre provided for, why do they need him. Vegeta, he recognizes the responsibility of being a father, and arguably now, family comes first. As dire as things were looking leading up to the TOP, Vegeta refused to be too far from Bulma for when the baby came. Meaning that in that moment, family first. Bulma is the richest person on the planet, part of the richest family on earth, and would have medical care better than anyone else on the planet so theres mininal risk. Vegeta didn't NEED to be there, but wanted to be there. So given the relative levels of severity of both of those, family is more important. But Vegeta's training takes him away from earth for long extended periods of time. Vegeta is still more balanced than Goku, to say the least. But Gohan, he studies hard to be a scholar because thats his one thing. And hes home for dinner, and I imagine Videl doesnt need to call him many times for dinner. So hes home a lot more. So asking him to add a 3rd thing in there and train consistently, and 30 minute workouts dont really cut it in this world. A few hours a day is asking a lot. And yeah, there is the option of the time chamber, but i have a feeling Gohan isnt to keen on fast forwarding away a few hours of his life every single day.

One thing I never understood is why trunks and mai had to return to their timeline if another trunks and mai were there already. At that point it isn't their timeline. If anything they deserved to stay in our timeline since, although there is still a trunks and mai here, they're much younger in age to differenciate them and both of them finally get to enjoy a life without war.

Nonetheless it would still affect and very possibly endanger this timeline. No matter what, they are not meant to be there. In the past, simply due to trunks returning to the past cell was able to come back in time and affect this timeline. Sure, the fighters were able to stand a chance against the androids, but the past had already changed so much by Trunks just being there. Cell coming to this timeline was just an icing on the cake. Besides, he already broke many laws of the universe by coming back yet again this time, and Beerus and Whis would never allow it. It’s best they didn’t stay. By your logic Trunks could have just brought Future Bulma back with him the previous time he came about, but that’d go against what Trunks wants anyways; it would be pretty out of character for him to just give up on his timeline. I don’t think Whis or Beerus would’ve let it happen anyway

You know I am glad to see Gohan focus a bit more on his own interests. Since it really help set him apart from Goku. Gohan hates fighting the moment Raditz showed up. Since he doesn’t get much of a break in Dragon Ball Z last I remember. Since he had to constantly train for this world ending threat. But years of peace and a happy life give Gohan the chance to settle down. And what I love about Super is that Gohan started training again. And the thing I think people forget in Dragon Ball Super Heroes is the Gohan does still train in secret, as that is how he learned how to use his new move. So seeing Gohan happy here not having to fight is really a nice thing to see. Because unlike most Dragon Ball fans, I like to see the cast have some time to relax and enjoy the peace before having to fight another threat.

I just love Future Trunks confirmed ,and find it really sad future Gohan's wish was also to be a scholar, he didn't even bother burdening his life and left without a word. It took a bit maturing but I really should be happy Gohan turned out this way, fans should celebrate they get to watch the one life he always wanted instead of the one that ended in a puddle in an unknown street on a rainy day. Friends dead, father dead, 30 too busy training and fighting, no degree no wife no kid. It's nothing for Goku and Vegeta, they can live off this stuff but the guy was half humam too, man had aspirations.
