Letting Jamie and Paul both talk and I was worried we wouldn’t even see any building today! So much knowledge between these two and a willingness to share and explain it in an approachable manner. Y’all need to team up an launch a building theory course that can be delivered at a technical school. Future builders would benefit immensely from your content delivery

This confab between Stud Pack and Perkins Brothers is my KZbin dream come true! Both of my favorite KZbin heroes working together posting awesome content from each other's point of view has been super entertaining to watch, and as always, educational. Whoever came up with this idea deserves a medal. Thank you you Perkins Brothers and Stud Pack for making this work!

so many builders in texas do not follow code it's incredible. the foundation alone they don't even bother with trying to do right around here. it's crazy how many bad builds have happened over time. meanwhile my house built in the 1923 is still solid without issues. i feel bad for newer home owners that get scammed.

I like learning more about trusses. So, AG1 is green tea with other stuff mixed in. My brother would probably love it. Was that one of the kids in the background playing with the door next to the potted plant? LOL. Jamie's prosthetic fingers remind me of something out of Star Wars. Looks cool! I like his explanation of how to deal with bowed studs. I actually didn't know that info before. I'll be using that info when we build my friend's shed. I love how the dude was hammering to try to get that header board in and Jaimie just stomped on it. LOL. Twerkin brothers. It still amazes me how you can now use drones to film stuff and have it be such good quality. Rad talking with the camera in his mouth was funny. A portable electric planer like that is cool. I am considering getting one.

The techniques you mention of making straight framing with not-always-straight lumber was something we had to deal with even in the 80’s. Studs, rafters, joists, don’t forget deck boards (pre Trex era). Fast-growth lumber is just more gnarly than old-growth lumber. Yet where there is a will, there’s a trick to make it work!

As a Scandinavian im wondering about all the moistiure trapped in the wood, while you are building sometimes. What do you do about it? Here in Denmark, we usually dont use wood for the walls and floors, but concrete, blocks and brick. And when we can seal the house, with windows, doors and roof, then we put in a heating cannon and dehumidifier for a couple of days, to remove moistiure and help cure concrete ect. We typically only use wood for the roof, to support the tiles :P

Tight trusses between concrete walls. From an engineering perspective: Remove the end triangles on the trusses. It holds nothing other than dry wall boards. And for this you may add blocking later on.

Not allowed to change the trusses in any way, without getting factory permission right?

Just curious, that is a really big cut back into the hillside? Are retaining walls not required? I am not doubting the quality of the construction, but the location of the foundation embedded in to the hillside, plus water, plus gravity seems like a recipe for future problems. (I have not been following the build, so i will go back and watch the beginning).
@remodz63854 ай бұрын
Yes it’s been approved by the engineer obviously, you can get a building permit without soil tests, elevation and grading inspection and set backs. This all gets approved before any concrete is poured

strange that you wont use bricks or the natural stone of the area for a good solid wall , cement walls is not bad but i find it not a long time product to use . In the uk it lasts for about 30 years as the rain eventually crumbles the cement , we have a motorway here and it is always being repaired.

You might have been better off getting the truss manufacturer to provide an engineered field repair to move the end vertical inwards. For a top bearing truss, it's really not carrying any load. Also, where are your 2x6 strongbacks?
