Truss Stability and Determinacy

In this video the method used to check the stability and determinacy of a truss is explained.
Although trusses are special types of frames, stability of trusses is checked in a different way.
The method used to evaluate the number of equilibrium equations and the number of unknowns is different than that used for frames.
Several examples are given for illustration.

With regards to your question, if we have more equations than the unknowns then we are sure that the truss is unstable and that's why I use the word definitely However, when the unknowns are equal or larger than the equations, this indicates that the structure is stable, but there are some cases that breaks this rule, and that's why I used probably. for more information about these cases you can watch this video kzbin.info/www/bejne/n6rUl4d3fth2r8k
