Hi, we are Bec, Sam, Isabella & Euan. After selling our house in the UK & travelling Europe in a motorhome for 10 months, we have bought a derelict stone cottage in Ireland. We are keen to try and live an off grid life, free from debt whilst bringing the farm back to its former glory. We are doing this on a very tight budget and plan on doing the work ourselves.

Yet another step forward for the intrepid team.. Start with the drains because that's where the trouble would be and you nailed it to the plans. The roof trusses look great but cover them up as quickly as you can . be safe and crack on

When you were talking -7 weather I thought it cute lol. I live in northern BC Canada and we can get to -50 but when you've never experienced it -7 can be very cold too. :) You have great views of the Ireland around you and once your flower garden is done you can sit out there with your beverage of choice and enjoy the views.Your workers and visitors are awesome. :) :)

Woohoo… I’m rooting for you Sam and Becks…The trusses are with you at last. I’ve been fretting all week, hoping they arrive asap. Now we’re getting into Sam’s trade skill’s territory. This is gonna be good, but if I may I wanna give some old man fatherly advice to Sam. Don’t forget Sam, this is not a new build, this is a very old stone homestead, not everything is perfectly level or straight. Sometimes you gotta let aesthetics guide you rather than you try and do the impossible and try to build everything dead straight and level. I wish you the best of luck with your roof Sam. @@theirishhomestead 🤣🤣. Please tell him that I’ve had OCD all my life, so I honestly get and understand his obsessions with flat, straight lines. I’d noticed it in him earlier, hence me wanting to give him some old man, fatherly advice. The way that I deal with it is to laugh at myself, with my obsessive compulsive disorders. Then to deliberately do something totally opposite to what my OCD is nagging at me to do. Food tin labels, all needing to be stacked and facing the same way…. So I deliberately stack them with the back of the can labels facing forward…. Then tell myself, quit moaning Dave…deal with it 😆. It really does work…..for me at least…. Lov e what you're doing. The music and narration are excellent as is the work you are doing. It is so very important to preserve and protect these heritage properties. Loved Toby's zoombie's and your dog running to Toby, then the chicken and rabbits how sweet is that. Toby is very happy now and all the animals look so content, thanks to you, Sam and the children such kind people.
