I can only imagine how hard it was for the original builders with few tools and no machinery.

2:50 Is that just some random thing hung on the wall, or is that part of a window covering? Or is it something attached to the wall? It's very odd.

Wasn't sure i'd like the channel at first. "Oh great, another tradesman gonna try and save every rotten timber as an architectural masterpiece needing historical revival". I really do like it though. What needs to look good, looks great, and what doesn't for practical purposes just gets done well. Love seeing everybody chip in to make the dream.

Sam don’t be so hard on yourself the stonework is phenomenal. Everything you’ve done is pretty amazing. What’s the expression you can’t see the forest for the trees. Once you step back and get a little bit more perspective, I think you’re gonna be blown away about what you’ve done. But I think when you’re in it sometimes it’s just hard to see the big picture. You guys are a phenomenal team. I look forward to seeing the next video. Sláinte slán libh! John Ó Gríobhtha

Great job with the stonework, (I couldn’t help but notice you safety glasses spent a lot of time on your head while you were chipping stone…). Truly the house is coming along beautifully. 😊😊😊😊

I think that Sam's work as a self taught stonemason is absolutely incredible and he can pat himself on the back. He has an eye for detail and I am certain he thinks like I do, no that will that not do, it must be perfect. Hats off to Sam.

In an earlier post you mentioned a wall without windows that takes the brunt of gale force winds. I wondered if it would make sense to add a small outward angle on the outside so the wind would be split, and the impact would be lessened. I hope that makes sense. I got the idea from an old mansion in Galveston Texas which was designed to endure hurricanes.

Hi guys, just came across you recently and have been doing a bit of catching up on your videos. To deter rats and mice from nesting in and eating your stuff, use a solution of concentrated peppermint oil mixed with water ( about 20:1 mix) and spray around the area you want to protect. Apparently, they really don't like the smell and will vacate. Hope this helps and keep the videos coming, really enjoying them.

It's an old cottage, that's why you like it, so you are just adding character to it. You need to step away from time to time to give mind and body a rest. As for the windows avoid dark colours as they attract spiders and their webs make keeping the frames clean a right pain.
