I am halfway to a civil engineering degree but I took some time off to do other jobs. When I went to engineering school at the University of Utah we had classes on all of this, but no KZbin videos that I knew about. KZbin is changing the way we learn, and it is like having a private tutor. I will master all of the truss videos on KZbin. Thanks for your work.

sir your videos r helpful and u r super clear about giving knowledge at the subject.. please( do make more on trusses (sections and joints) and according to my view why don't u start up for little bit theory or some rules at beginning regarding the problems u have solved ....(its just a little bit of suggestion as a viewer). thanku

Then please explain that The fig shows compressive forces. the answer has got negative and he take positive as compression. Actually compression is taken first then you have ti to take tension

SIR,how you're using the magnitude of Va force as -1500 in the equillibrium equation? -ve is only for direction? plz explain?

it might be too late, he did not explain this but, 1200 N in the Y and we found Rb to be -2700 N..... -2700 N + 1200 N = -1500 N

Yes, What you said is absolutely right. The value of Va =1500 in a downward direction, which will be again negative while applying equilibrium equations.

He took it in negative sign in calculation . So result will not affected. but there is an error in representation.

sir shudnt Fbc and Fab be tensile and Fac be compressive? becoz acc to the direction of the axial forces Fac exerts force on the respective member in the inward direction while its the opposite in Fbc and Fab. Pls clarify.

At point B , if i take Efx=0 i.e Force on AB - Fbc cos36.87=0 which gives the different value for force of BC . so can i take x-component to calculate value of force on BC

Im sorry for stepping in, let me please answer your question. Truss is not used to hold a load/force in its body but only on its joint, but frame is used to hold a load/force in its entire body. Hope my answer helps.

Why the hinged support is offering two reactions, if reaction offered is always normal to the surface. And if this is so, then why the roller support is offering just one reaction.

Anshul look..... Hinged support restricts motion along both X and Y direction that is why you get two reactions where as when you talk about a roller support it restricts motion along only one direction that is along the Y direction and that is why you get one single reaction in the vertical direction.....
