why is there a +10 while calculating Ffg?

If you are referring to example 1, we find Ffg by balancing joint f in the X direction. we have 3 forces int he X direction Ffg ( which is to be evaluated), Ffe (which is the 10 KN you are referring to) and teh component of Ffd in the X direction ( 1.41 cos 45). By balancing these 3 forces we obtain Ffg. Ffe ( 10 KN) was evaluated in a previous step I hope this answers your question.

In the first Example, why does Ya = 10kn ? and Yb=12kn ?

Ya and Yb are obtained using the equilibrium equations. What do you mean by the write up? If you mean the subtitles (voice transcript), you can remove it by using the CC button.
