Trussing a 14 Bolt for Off-Road Axles: Step-by-Step Guide

I show you how I use Fusion 360 and the Langmuir Systems CrossFire XR to make a truss for the 14 Bolt axle that we are using on our newest desert race truck. I feel comfortable saying that this is a good design. We have used the same truss on our older race truck for 8 races (including 4 Baja 1000s) and this truss completed the 1200 of the 2023 Baja 1000.

Hitting "x" on the keyboard will change a line to/from a construction line. Using keyboard vs clicking on screen is personal preference of course, but I found the keyboard to be quicker for me. Thanks for the videos, I learn something new every time.

Given the amount of fabricating and fitting, you might want to look into a 3d scanner.

@@ntdracing I have a revopoint but don’t have any experience with it (had to move around the time I bought it) . There are a few competitors to the revopoint which review better. There are a few automotive channels out there using and reviewing them. Capabilities seem to depend on price and budget but no longer out of range of the backyard fabricator.

I have been slowly working on an open source trophy truck project that would hopefully be able to lower the barrier of entry for other competitors. Right now I am working out the process for quickly and efficiently making jigs to speed up assembly of the plasma cut tubes. My issue currently is that I don't have hard dimensions on where various tubes should be. Would you have any interest in sharing some of your CAD designs so I have more solid numbers to work from? I totally understand if you want to keep that a team secret.
