TRUST THE GUIDE | Episode #26 | Do I Use Bow or Rifle? Creates A Double-Minded Man

Many hunters think or say something like this: "I want to shoot a (animal with my bow, but if it looks like it's not going to happen I'll just use a rifle."
In this episode Billy relates this type of "double-minded" hunter to his own walk of trusting Christ as his "Bow" and when times get tough, or don't seem to be going the way Billy believes they should not picking up the rifle, i.e. relying on himself or his own flesh.

After hunting buck and doe for five days, the Lord spoke to me with scripture and I think it's relevant to your discussion. Philippians 4:6-7. This is great scripture for our daily walk, thanking him whatever comes our way. Speak to our Father whatever is on your mind because he already knows you! Nothing surprises him. Praise God.

Love how you connect commitment from hunting to following Jesus. What you said is true. We all get joy out of what we create and while creating it for it is a blessing from God. "So I perceived that nothing is better than that a man should rejoice in his own works, for that is his heritage. For who can bring him to see what will happen after him?" Ecclesiastes 3:22. I still have my rifles and bows though hahah. Never hunt with neither but just enjoy the simple joy of learning new skills and the process of trying to perfecting them. 100% agree with you Billy. Fulfillment and happiness for me also comes from productive work, mostly hands-on projects where progress can be seen at the end of the day. Big task or small, something productive needs to get done every single day. When I'm bored, I'm miserable.

My mind went in several different directions but I will comment on one. Job knew God was real and believed God to be supreme. However, in the midst of his trials, he questioned why God allowed him to suffer. In short, God's answer was - Your job is not to know why I do what I do. Your job is to do what I tell you to do. Once Job got that message straight in his heart, he lived a life far beyond what he thought had been a good life up to that point in time. All that Job thought he had lost was replaced ten fold. If we will stop questioning God, and do what He tells us to do, all will be well. Thank you Lord for men like Billy Molls. Bless him and use him. He is a willing servant.

I am convinced your message is absolutely sound! I became disabled from combat in 1971.At 19 I thought my life was over. HOWEVER without this bad day in a jungle night I would Never given my life to Christ in 1972!! I love watching you in the thick Alders , reminds me of Nam. I can hunt in So. Dakota. Billy, even in failure there is some victory. All the wins come from God and all our losses come from God. There must be losses to appreciate the gains. Just like the journey, we take to follow the lord will be difficult and full of failures and successes, It is not the wins or the losses we need to focus on but rather the rest of our journey with the lord as the ultimate guide to everlasting joy. At 57 years old, I remember when I was young I asked god to help me harvest a buck, after 5 years of unanswered prayers, God finally answered me. That is all I ever wanted, but after 100 bucks to my credit, I still found myself asking God for just one more buck. I finally realized it was not the harvest I seek, but rather the time with God I really wanted. Now, I just ask god to share the day with me, because I now know one more victory will not provide me everlasting joy. Billy, I may never be able to hunt grizzly or sheep with you but at the same time in a magical way, god gives me that joy every time I watch your videoes . Thank Billy for sharing your life with us. you're a great person and keep following your dream for god wants you to.

Really appreciate you taking the time to make this series. I went back and started from episode #1. I was raised catholic and for meany years have proclaimed myself atheist. Only recently have I begun to rethinking my purpose on this earth and your series is very enlightening. BTW have you considered releasing it in podcast form? Jesus was a carpenter and no matter the goal as long that is accomplished. I have found that when you be led by the spirit it always revealed. But . Not on our timing. It has been years and other times in days . I'm 68 and I bow hunt elk . I have been construction of all kinds. It has gotten better and better. Come to Jesus and peace that passes all under standing.
