As long as the game hasn't auto reverted you by the time the fade to white starts, then the level still ends.

I was 5 or 6 years old when my friend at the time took me with his uncle to get halo combat evolved for the midnight release. I’ll never forget playing the campaign release night swapping off deaths for the entire night. Actually insane how solid this game was

Yeah, TnR combat is extremely smooth looking when everything goes well. Luckily the OOB stuff only skips 2 wave fight rooms that are pretty dull overall. One of which you just run through the door when it opens.

@ThiqMeatSlim Garish's most recent tnr manually retimed is a 6:07. The autosplitter time was a 6:06.95. But it was off by a bit. I retimed my run as a 6:06 and 16 frames. So a 6:06.2666 Sometimes the auto splitter will either be a tad fast or slow. Garish typically always has full 100% trust in the tools which is something that you should not do. Always manually retime the run from HUD appearing to checkpoint... at the end of the levels white screen.

@ThiqMeatSlim tyty. But yeah, always gotta manually retime. If the timer ends at .9X there's always a chance the real time is a bit higher. The tools are good. But not always prefectly accurate.

@@ThiqMeatSlim I think it's an important rule to have. While it sucks to have to watch the cutscene every time. Using HCM (which is a cheat tool) in order to load a custom checkpoint not only affects the rng and game state, is also unavailable for console runners. This leads to a HEAVY competitive advantage for PC users. Every attempt saves you 28 seconds each reset. Cambid 2 years ago grinded 40+ hours worth of the cutscene when he went for his 6:09. Getting that many more attempts in would easily allow for someone to grind out a sub 6 in that time. Which console runners would not be able to do.

@r3aperrising984 28 seconds per attempt. It's not going to happen though. IF the game had a built in way, sure. But to need to use cheat software which console runners don't have access to makes it a severe competitive advantage.

@r3aperrising984 Another problem is that it affects rng and the overall game state. One example being carrier bump on Library being far more consistent when loading from a custom save. The cheat tool just overall affects the game too much in ways that create an unfair experience for those who don't want to use it to cheat, or those who can't.

@r3aperrising984 Cambid spent over 40 hours 2 years ago. I luckily only spent a little over 2 on this grind. I also didn't really "watch" the cutscene. I'd be on discord hanging with some friends and watching KZbin/ twitch on the 2nd monitor. Chronos a couple years ago would do college homework while waiting out the 38 second Silent Cartographer cutscene.

How come you didn't nade the dead marine body after hanger skip? Was it because you already shot the marine a few times before the grav lift?

@joekwond0509 Don't need to reset the aggro timer when going for the IL marine ending. In full game we keep 3 points of aggro up till the prison. In order to get 1 point from nading a marine and 1 from shooting in combat. For the IL, we just shoot one out of combat to get 3 points while still in the prison. So entering with just 2 points works fine enough.

@kachebele_phiri The trigger to spawn in the reinforcements at the lift fight will spawn them early if you aren't in combat or if there are no marines alive. So you can either grab the camo and assassinate everything which is kind of slow, or kill the marines. We want them to spawn in before the wave fight since if u get them after you have to wait 40 seconds for them. The issue with killing them is if one dies, you're waiting 40 seconds for more. So camo strats are safer but a bit slower.

@ssjmafi4 The cutscene trigger activates a but before the level ends. Even if you die it will still end. Probably is u can't skip cutscenes while dead so you have to manually wait out the death timer for it to revert for you. Skipping cutscnes are just a checkpoint revert.
