Regret and Gravemind, and even Cairo Station pushed me to my mental breaking point. I nearly lost my mind trying to finish those levels.

@@levi22es Gravemind was a pain because I didn't have a good idea of how the checkpoint system worked. Turns out, on original hardware, if you take HP damage, the checkpoints become incredibly scarce. My guess is that the Black Eye skull doesn't regenerate HP, and to get non-specific checkpoints, you need full HP. So, I'd get pretty far until I inevitably died, then started back over from the beginning.

@@Aquasition1 honestly i was very surprised that gravemind and regret werent as bad as I thought they would be. From my experience Cairo station was easily the hardest level in halo 2 laso as it took my friend and I about 5 hours to complete it, and for context both regret and gravemind took about 3 hours each with no skips/ full path including prison section. Hardest laso level still goes to truth and reconciliation with it taking my friend and I more than 7 HOURS!!!

Top three hardest Halo 2 missions on Legendary for sure. At least without all of the glitches. Lord, the were such a pain when I did my deathless Legendary walkthroughs for them…

@@DubNasty_ Yeah, Cairo Station, Regret, and Gravemind are easily the hardest levels. It took me about 14 hours for CS, 17 for Gravemind, and at least 20 for Regret. Yes, this is taking skips into account. It took me hours just to figure out that I can still explosive jump to Regret using Plasmas instead of Frags (didn't have any). Even then, it took a few tries - I'd end up dying at the doorway when I spawned everyone in. Gravemind... Well, my previous post's comment about checkpoints, also it took a lot of time to get the Prison Skip. CS Was mostly me getting stuck on the second Boarding Pod, as I was unaware of the box turret trick. Once I learned about that, it got easier. The reason why I mention the Oracle is because I was playing the original game, on Xbox (using a trainer to turn the skulls on). Thing is, I don't know if the invinciibility trick works on that version, so I didn't try. The Heretic Leader was... pretty bad.

I'm aware that you do it as a joke, but I do personally appreciate it when you describe something as 'easy' and still show you failing it. When I was doing my own Monopolized run, some things that I struggled to do for a while were described as 'easy' and were done in one try in all the tutorials because they're successful runs. It was pretty demoralising to fail these particular parts. It's nice to show a good player failing something once or twice too.

Man, I got the LASO Master achievement, and I have so many fond memories. For each game, including and especially Halo 2, I probably took even longer than you did by like 3x the amount before I got the achievement. But despite the frustration, I have such fond memories of it and actually remember finding it FUN. I seem to have enjoyed it even more than my regular and Legendary runs. Either way, glad you managed to beat the hardest game in the franchise.

Damn. In the first level the sword "dash" technique is ULTRA helpful and in LASO in general. I still know where every freaking enemy is and where they spawn literally and the last time i did an LASO run in h2 was in 2006

Sputnik makes your melee attacks cause enemies to turn around, which makes backsmacks incredibly easy as long as you can survive getting the first hit in.

how the h2 cowbell skull (what mcc renamed thats just wrong) works: every noise the player makes becomes as loud as a rocket explosion, which includes uncrouched footsteps and melee strikes. this makes headglitching a little less useful than on regular legendary because the enemies can still hear where you are and will turn to look there, they just can't see you - this is why they immediately hose you down when you pull your head back out

There is also a way to get the banchee into the last room in a different way, you fly into the door that is shot open by the scarab, fly up and wiggle through the hall way, clear the room and take it with you into the boss fight.

The hangar from hell is, in my opinion, one of the single hardest rooms in legendary Halo. I'm not sure why, but I struggled with that room and the bomb room at the end of the mission more than most things in Halo 2 on legendary.

I was lucky enough to have a monitor with an aiming reticle I could toggle on and off when I did my LASO runs. That made it so much easier to deal with.

I'm a Dumbass! I spent days on that boss fight during my laso run years ago and never knew about that invincibility glitch. I almost sent my controller through my friends head because of this fight!
