Maybe if brokers understood more about the actual trucking part of this then the brokers would understand why we won't haul loads for cheap and those that do don't stay in business very long ! My over head is probably triple the amount of a broker plus I assume all the risk and responsibility of the load plus the safety of the general public not to mention having to deal with the actual shippers and receiver's thats another headache all by itself ! so no I'm not hauling cheap loads in today's market i dont haul anything under 3 dollars a mile if its over 30k lbs its 4 a mile ...
@brandonthefreightbroker3 жыл бұрын
you choose to make decisions in your best interests...that's the beautiful thing about freedom...keep doing you...but brokers don't need to understand trucking part....NOT if they don't have a trucking business...that's for truckers to understand...wish you continued success!
@mrabmcclain3 жыл бұрын
I'm with you. This whole broker explosion kinda took off with the pandemic. Most see it as easy money. Are there truthful and ethical new broker start ups, sure, but most think it's an easy money maker while stealing from the carrier. The notion of not needing to understand the trucking side is ridiculous. As a carrier must be knowledgeable at lanes and rates as should a broker. Those that don't know that will commonly try to sell loads well below the market average to try and maker more profit. The dynamic here is brokers need truckers, not the other way around. If more carriers started exercising their "rights to view" regarding loads it would cause almost overnight most dishonest outfits to close shop.
@brandonthefreightbroker3 жыл бұрын
@@mrabmcclain of course freight brokers should be knowledgeable on rates...that's a part of the freight broker business...from a business aspect a freight broker does not need to know the truckers costs to operate ...does not need to know the challenges a trucker faces...why? because im a freight broker who is concerned about my business...im not concerned about a truckers business...that's his business...I just mind my own business....thank you for commenting!
@mrabmcclain3 жыл бұрын
@@brandonthefreightbroker That one way of thinking is the problem. If your only concern is how much you make and can't be fair to the carrier then why would I come back to get knocked on the head again and again? Your business relies much more heavily on the carrier doing their job in an orderly, on time and consistent basis. To not pay them fairily and lose them means you are now relying on unknown carriers to fulfill your obligation and keep your business partners happy and willing to keep giving you more loads. I'm sure you are leary of new start up carriers, as are carriers with newer brokers. The potential of being ripped off is extremely high. My belief is pay those who do right by you and yours and you'll be rewarded handsomely.
@brandonthefreightbroker3 жыл бұрын
@@mrabmcclain not being concerned about their costs does not mean you don't pay them fairly...it just means my concern is my business...a trucker's concern should be the well being of his business....your perspective equivalent to saying the shipper should make sure freight brokers make profit....not going to happen...and quite frankly unreasonable in my opinion to think so....

Solid insights good sir. I’ve been a freight broker for 6 years now and finally ventured out on my own. Indeed it’s a skill set that comes with repeated action. The hunger is needed, customers aren’t going to call. You have to put in the work. It’s not impossible since other companies have thrived, just can’t dabble and expect big results. Wish you well on your business.

Brandon this is exactly where I’m at with my freight broker business. I have everything setup and haven’t made a dime. It’s been frustrating at times, because I get loads rates from shippers and I’m trying to sell the rates to the carriers but they are not accepting the rates. The shippers are trying to get something done at a very low rate and that’s been my challenge.
