Moved to L.A in 76’ and was roommates with Michael Sembello ( Stevie’s guitarist) at the time and I met Nate within a few days as we all lived in the same apartment complex Park Magnolia. I was playing keyboards with Bill Withers and did sessions with Nate and Mike which as a great learning experience. Love Nate ❤

As a Stevie Wonder, fanatic and overall lover of music, I must say this is one of the best interviews ever! It’s a blessing hear all of this historic information from the source.

Greg Philinganes is a must watch for great info about his time spent with Stevie, he’s such a laugh too : ) Hearing Nate talk about Contusion being difficult to play, Greg P said he used to play the lead keyboard part because Stevie couldn’t.

I’m a 25 year old bassist. I’ve been playing bass since I was 8 years old, and Nate Watts is definitely my 2nd biggest inspiration right after James Jamerson.

1980 ‘Hotter than July Music Picnic’ at Wembley Arena was the first time I saw Stevie. Nate talking about 3 hour shows - I remember another Wembley concert, a 3+ hour show, the band went for a 20 minute break but not Stevie, he stayed on stage to have a play with his new ‘toy’ a Fairlight, he was playing incredible ‘guitar’ with it. Thanks Scott for a great interview and big love to Nate : )

@fucu41 maybe as a musician, is great or something, but for a fan, I was highly disappointed. I get it though it's a soundtrack experimental album. But for me there was like 4 good songs on that album the rest was doo doo

Scott another great interview with Nathan Watts. That Steven and Sterling album that you were talking about with Nate playing bass on it has a nasty joint on there called Fragile. A truth in rhythm alumnus Kipper Jones is on that album too. I was also pretty sure Nate played bass on Sylvia Striplin's Give Me Your Love. That was on Roy Ayers Uno Melodic label. Dope album. Pretty much everything on Uno Melodic was a keeper. I see you have Alton McClain coming up and Nathan played on that album too.

First of all, hello fellas and this video great content. Thanks for putting the se great bass players on the scene and letting us know about where they came from their history and stuff. Secondly Nathan, watch kind of sounds like James Brown. I'm at Stevie and James Brown 70 years old. Just fun! And with this Nathan sounds like he went to the dentist and they gave me some bad dentures and they slip it and need some poly grip so I'm just finding about it. I lost my front tooth and put a flipper in there. I hate flippers. As soon as I get about six grand I'm going to put an implant in there. So Mr. Watts, keep on doing your thing I'm at Michael Jackson three times. Patti LaBelle Larry Graham I'm a photographer/ photo artist so I did a lot of shooting in Atlanta backstage at the Omni back in the day met Maurice White. Those guys are real cool! Chaka Khan so everyone stay healthy. People on living. Peace, love and shea butter.
