Nice to see you Doctor. I was in your first group of BCS exam. I made a right choice from moving from IDM. I had Biology degree and during uni I completed all BCS. I came to Australia and did Masters in IT. Masters was too easy as BCS already covered everything. So I was able to work and pay my studies. I brought only $2000 Dollers from Sri Lanka plus the first semester fee of $6500. I did CISSP and working for Australian. Government. Thank you 💝
I am extremely proud of being an employee of ESOFT ❤️🙏

Then you are an academic person right? I have school teacher friend who do A/L IT , and also my sister teaches IT for A/L in a school. Anyway that's not the life that suitable for me. I always want to live with bugs, code, debuggers, compilers etc etc..... However you guys are the foundation of us. The real truth is sometimes it's very very difficult to find good skilled people to teams. That's why I always say to UoC to make that BIT degree 4 years and add some more advanced subjects as well. For a example if one wants to be specialized in web he could do that in 4th year. if somebody wants to be specialized in system programming also he got his 4th year, may be he could spend his time on a linux kernel project or something.
I owe Dr Dayan a great deal. I too studied at ESoft, and it's because of them that I could complete my HND with University of Colombo. It's great to see them maintain the quality of the service. Wish them all the best!

What the Dr. Says is very correct. I have been working in IT industry close to 40 years now. Currently reside in overseas working for IT giant in the world. If your child is keen on IT, it’s a very Good industry to study and work on. Good pay & growing field. You should not be scared of loosing your job if you keep up studying and update your skill set.

Dear sir.I am very interested in IT.Can I contact you ?
Chamudita, I work in IT in UK and I have two young people under me who joined me as IT apprentices. One has been with me for 6 years and the other been with me for three years. Both of them failed in the traditional education process. One doesn't even have his GCSEs. The other has just about got through GCSEs. They did foundation level courses monitored by British computer society. This is perfectly possible and these two boys are very good competent employees. They will never get to the level of a graduate in understanding some complex IT concepts. I am not defending this business. But to be IT you don't necessarily need a degree or A'levels. I like to add that some children don’t like sitting exams. Both these boys had very little confidence in themselves and other issues. I was convinced they had potential and gave them opportunities. Sri Lankan children need similar schemes and opportunities. We can’t leave anyone behind.

I want to add a comment here as i think i can relate to this very well. I did A/L in maths stream and I even got selected to a state university for Applied Science. But my aim was either Electronics Engineering or Software Engineering. I even started to pursue my Electronic engineering dream after joining to Institute of Engineering Technology (IET). But i hv started the BIT @ UOC at the same time. My aim was to pursue both but i couldn't as both of them were really demanding and I had no one to help me. Believe me, just 3 weeks before the BIT 1st year end exam I decided to for the BIT in 2013. And i remember it was just like starting a world war with my parents as they thought i am loosing my mind. Today I hv 6+ years as a software engineer and just to complete my MSC. And actually I do work in that company that creates Software for Emirates 😊😊😊😊. Only your determination and how far you are willing to go for your dreams is what matters.

I believe ESOFT is blessing. My brother and Dr were in Medical college together. I didn't want my parents to struggle with money sending me to medical college. So I made my mind not to go to medical college. I was able to get Biology degree and did BCS at ESOFT. That Dr.'s first class at Kirulapona. Before the graduation I got 3 IT jobs. But my batch mates did struggle to find a job. If you know what you want to do this gives a way to achieve it. My best friend suicided after the graduation.

I want to leave a comment as a boy who only finished my O/Ls in 1997 and I came to Singapore to work at the age of 21 and started attending Night classes as a part time student and managed to complete my Singapore National trade certificate which advanced my carrier. This is a great opportunity for those students who wants to advance their Carrier in srilanka.Sri Lanka need a revolution in the educational system. Like in Singapore even if a student fail his or her O/L they can still get in to the institute of technical education (ITE) through a entrance test or they can enrol in to various courses after their O/Ls then chose to go for their Diploma or Degree after 2 -3 years depending on the course that they have chosen and completed with a good GPA.This also a great opportunity for youngsters to develop a skill that they are interested in. In Singapore IT sector is a huge market which mostly taken over by Indian nationals and they get paid so well. Why not for our Sri Lankans. So my opinion is, it’s ok not to finish A/Ls if you can advance your carrier with something you like to study and develop your skills. There will be many opportunities locally and Internationally. God bless you all

not only for the rich, there are always chances for everyone who willing to be a graduate'try to tell something after you really confident about the facts.ESOFT is offering variety of scholarships , interest free loans with government, not only esoft ,all private universities are following it's vision and always compettiting to maintain the quality among other unis. that's how they progress make profit and that's how they becomming the most dominant education system in this country.it's good for who willing to dedicate their full struggle for the future education.no one will throw a degree for money,if not how can private unis maintain their quality?

Degree from any University in any subject is so valuable. It gives different perspective and maturity to life and facing problems effectively. What Sri Lankan people missing are good attitude and personal qualities. Rather than any qualification attitude matters. Jobs will be offered and will provide training for the people have certain good qualities.

What he says is very correct. Sri Lankan’s need to think OUTSIDE THE BOX in pretty much every area. Do not get trapped in old ideas and ways of doing things. Parents (most, not all) are also trapped in old ideas and make kids follow archaic methods not letting young people follow their dreams and talents. Any kid can excel in software applications/development/IT even as a self learned person. Most kids in other countries are allowed to take higher level courses while in school. For example, a kid in 6h grade can take 10th grade IT, Computer, Math, History, Biology whatever subject he/she has excelled. There is so much opportunities to do so. In Sri Lanka, the private sector must offer these opportunities as the government sector is extremely slow to change old ways of teaching for a fast paced, technologically savvy world. Sri Lankan’s, please don’t think doing ALs or even getting a BA or a BSc in traditional universities are the only options or means to get qualified in new areas of studies.
Yes, my son went to university at age 16 to do the Elecrical engineering degree in one of the wolrd best university. My Son didn't stay at home after grade 12. System need to change.
Doing justice to the concept of free education, thank you doctor (Esoft boss) for your effort. Our free education system is based on the idea of free of charge so it's not sure whether free access for education is available to everybody. Another thing is that a lot of children discontinue learning after O/L due to various reasons. Their need for further education may arise later. So another path for further education with their O/L qualifications serves a lot. The belief that only the bright get through exams is also a doubt as it's been found that today's dull may be the brightest tomorrow. We have a tradition of diverting the seemingly brightest (with high marks for mathematics & science) for mathematics & science in their A/L stream. this may pave the way for this bright ones to lose opportunity for university education as the competition is high & the opportunities available is limited. Mismanagement in universities results in delay in state universities considerably costing government as well as parents a lot. So an alternative path for a degree or any kind of higher education serves a lot for the country.
