I was born and raised as a Roman Catholic, the one thing confusing me the most is "Sunday" worship. Popes have proclaimed that they changed the Sabbath from Saturday to Sunday on their own power. I am not a SDA and would never join them but, why did the Protestant churches, when they broke away, keep the Popes Sunday?

@@gab1172 Pretty much, the principle is that God gave us a day of rest. Some may be convicted for the Saturday, or Sunday, or whatever. Do Rabbis rest on Friday evening/Saturday? Do Pastors rest on the Sunday? No. So are they disobeying the Word of God? Weak Christians make it a law to have it on a certain day (1 Cor 8). If they so feel the need, fine. But that the law is to be on the heart, not on a specific day of the week.

@@ClanToreadorwhy are you twisting scripture? Show me where in Romans 14 it says the word Sabbath or how it's implying it's about the Sabbath. Matter of fact show me anywhere in all of the Book of Romans where the word Sabbath is used. Hint, you won't find it. Romans 14 is about fast days, the context is very clear to claim it's talking about anything else is making Paul a liar or false prophet. If Paul preached against the Sabbath then you run into many issues. 1 by God's definition of a false prophet Paul would meet that criteria 2 it would mean Paul is contradicting himself since he said to keep the law through faith. You can't change what God has blessed you can't just pick your own day. God set apart the Sabbath you as a mere mortal have 0 authority to do that. Daniel 7:25 says the antichrist will change God's law. If you say God's eternal law has changed you are displaying one of the characteristics of the Antichrist. You say Jesus is your Sabbath I hear that term a lot but I've never seen that term in the Bible at all and that term actually makes almost zero sense when you think about it let's apply that logic to any of the other nine commandments can I say Jesus is my murder therefore I can now murder Jesus is now my adultery therefore I can commit adultery Jesus is my liar therefore I can lie now? No that's absurd. Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath it's his Holy day you cannot change that fact

@@guspapadopoulos thanks for your response. It struck me as strange since Anderson literally said “Jesus, in the form of God the Father…” because he also preached extensively against this same notion, right? I believe the trinity which can be difficult to describe. This is why there are so many variations of it. It wasn’t until I was a young adult that I learned about Jesus being physically present on earth in the Old Testament as well as Jesus being the Creator. It’s very common when people pray, they begin by saying “dear Heavenly Father …” or I sometimes hear people say “Father God …” or even just “Father …” and then they might say “I’m trusting in you Jesus” or begin speaking directly to Jesus yet then at the end might say “we pray this in your son Jesus’ name”. I grew up in a baptist church, I was saved at age 9. I’m 45 and I am extremely involved in my local baptist church today. The trinity isn’t usually covered in clear detail. My whole life people, including myself, have prayed to Jesus and God the Father as if to pray to the same God, which technically they are because both are part of the Godhead which consists of all three. I had not heard of modalism until there was the controversy at FWBC featuring Tyler Baker. I’ve met Tyler when they came to Atlanta for a soul winning marathon and I’ve spoken to him on the phone numerous times Borge before and after the split and honestly the whole situation with the modalism thing really broke my heart because this is such an awesome ministry and I hate to see drama, and ultimately the adversary, cause wedges of division. Sometimes there are things that can be chalked up to semantics. But here we have a clear example of Anderson saying “Jesus, in the form of God the Father” you heard it, we all heard it. I just wonder what we do with that. Is He wrong to have said that? Verse after verse we could go to. “I and my father are one” “if you’ve seen me you’ve seen the father” “he is the expressed image of the godhead bodily” “wonderful counselor and everlasting father” I may have butchered some of that but I’m typing super fast, and you likely know the verses I’m referencing. What do we do with this?

Great thoughts there. I personally think it is a mixture of both Trinity and Modalism. The Father is God ,Jesus is God and the Holy Spirit is God always! That is what I believe. When Jesus told the thief(criminal) you will be with me today in paradise that was true, but at the same time Jesus went to hell to set the captives free. ( 2 places at once) Jesus was able to do it because he had the Holy Spirit and the Father working as one. So in my understanding of this it is a mixture of both. I am still trying to understand fully. But that is why we are saved by Faith in God's loving Grace. It's the Faith in God that I will build my house on.

@ATLbench Jesus is the express image of God the Father, as in of the 3 in the Trinity, Jesus is the only one who has a human body. Yes, Jesus and the Father are one God because God is the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Three separate beings who make up the Triune God of the Bible.

Pastor Anderson does not know history very well. We should mention that two very first Baptists were: John Smith - an Anglican guy and Thomas Helwys, a Purytan supporter. Both baptised themselves. Pastor laughed that Joseph Smith baptised himself , but paradoxically John Smith the very first baptist person did it the same to himself. Later he dumped his friend Thomas Helwys and became a Mennonite. Thomas traveled to England and established very first Baptist church in London. The irony is that he was killed by King James. The same king who decided to make the new version of the bible that Baptists love. King James executed Helwys for the act of insulting the authorities. Same behaviour shows pastor Anderson. Unfortunately.

"oh baptism is a symbol... but WE NEED TO BAPTISE BY IMMERSION!!!1" Ok... which is it so-called "baptist"? The amount of contradictions here is a joke. "pastor" steve is no theologian. The fact that he has no knowledge or understanding of okios (household) baptism, the fact that water baptism isn't specific to full immersion and by & far the worst is the fact that even the best Baptist theologians have to admit that Circumcision and Baptism effectively mean the same thing (without exactly being the same thing, since one overtakes the other without specifically replacing it). Same with his explanation of baptist naming over Christian. Why was John called a Baptist? Because he was known for Baptising, dah. Not that he chose that name, but that it became common for others to call him that for that reason. When you remove it from the act (and make it more focused on the title) and from the context it losses all meaning. But Christian was an actual title, one that relates directly to Christ servant-hood. Oh yes, and don't forgot the irony that John's baptism was null and void after the Ascension of Christ. John's baptism was a pre-figure to the true baptism, not the "start of it" like Steven suggests. It did not spread from John the Baptist. Actually Baptism wasn't spread at all, since all baptism (that is CHRIST'S BAPTISM, NOT JOHN'S) is only ONE baptism. Imagine calling yourself a BAPTIST, after someone that is clearly identified as someone who was not the Christ, but was sent to give evidence to the Christ... RATHER than being called a Christ-ian, after Christ Himself. That is really pathetic when you think about it. BAPTISTS ARE A SEPARATE LINE! ROFL! THE ORIGINAL BAPTISTS FOLLOWED THE WESTMINISTER CONFESSION TO A TEE ONLY EXCLUDING INFANT BAPTISM! ANTI-PASTOR STEVE IS EITHER DELUSIONAL OR A STRAIGHT OUT LIAR.

The New Testament Scriptures tell us how to be saved. There, you will NOT find the man-made, denominational mantra of, “We are saved by faith alone in Jesus; just invite Jesus into your heart as your personal Savior and pray the sinner’s prayer” (a prayer that is also NOT found in the Scriptures). Instead, Jesus and His apostles go much further than that and issue specific commandments for salvation that are presented here with example Scripture references from the KJV. If you are truly interested in learning how to be saved, then please read on… 1. HEAR THE GOSPEL: First Corinthians 15:1-4; Mark 3:10; Romans 10:14. 2. BELIEVE THE GOSPEL: John 3:16; Acts 16:31; First Corinthians 15:1-4. Faith, believing on Jesus, is certainly a highly important commandment, but it is by no means the only commandment for salvation. 3. REPENT OF YOUR SINS: Acts 3:19; Luke 13:3. 4. CONFESS BEFORE MANKIND THAT JESUS IS THE SON OF GOD: Matthew 10:32-33; Romans 10:9-10. 5. BE BAPTIZED FOR REMISSION OF SINS: Acts 2:38; Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 22:16; Romans 6:3-4; Galatians 3:27; First Peter 3:21. Though sinless, Jesus commanded baptism and was also baptized as our example, so it’s a most essential part of the salvation process. 6. LIVE A CHRISTIAN LIFE BY SERVING CHRIST: Hebrews 5:8-9; Matthew 7:21; John 14:15; Second Thessalonians 1:7-9. Think you can be saved like the thief on the cross? While on earth, Jesus had power to forgive whomever He willed, for the New Covenant had not yet gone into effect. We today are under the authority of the New Covenant, which includes these commandments for salvation. Therefore, we cannot be saved in exactly the same manner as the thief on the cross. Ultimately, we are saved through the sacrificial blood of Jesus (Revelation 1:5), BUT, we only have access to His saving blood by obeying His commandments for salvation. Don't ever try to debunk these commandments with Ephesians 2:8-9. “Saved by grace through faith” means that we cannot earn salvation by our good deeds or personal works alone. Jesus saves us through His grace as a gift to those who have faith enough in Him to obey His commandments, which are certainly NOT personal works. As Jesus said, “If ye love me, keep my commandments” (John 14:15 KJV). It's really mind-boggling how quickly many alleged Christians reject Jesus’ commandments for salvation and prefer man-made, denominational doctrines. As Jesus said, "Howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men" (Mark 7:7 KJV). “And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?” (Luke 6:46 KJV). If you really want to be saved, then do what Jesus tells you to do. It’s just that simple.

Water baptism is a work. We are only saved by grace, through faith in Christ Jesus alone. I recommend reading Romans 3:28, 4, Matthew 3 regarding baptism, and also Ephesians 2:8-9. A person becomes born again of Holy Spirit when he believes the Gospel of Christ as Ephesians 1:13 states. Gospel is defined in 1 Corinthians 15.

Mr Anderson is it necessary to be mean, rambunctious and condescending with malice in your judgement of others. Learn humility, read "wounded by love" by Saint Porphyrios. The homilies of Saint Issac the Syrian, the writings of Maximus the Confessor and Gregory Palamas and hopefully you will better understand the true meaning of the Jesus Prayer. If you think that's the only prayer that the Eastern Orthodox pray; then you need to think again. Please no need to be hostile. The Orthodox have been around since 33AD. They have Apostalic succession. I'm not telling you which Christian denomination to adhere to; however l think you would be better prepared and much better versed in ancient Ecclesiastics by researching the texts of many, many Orthodox Saints, than relying entirely on your version of solar scriptura 1500 years after the scriptures were written interpreted and deciphered by those who you show much disdain for. Instead of constantly depending on the the pick and choose variation of interpretation of the reformation, you might get a more precise understanding of Orthodox dogma. One more thing, you will come across in a more respectful manner by holding back your emotional outbursts and what seems slanderous approach . For example watch how former Protestants rebuttal others like fir instance Paul Trueenback, Stephen Friedman, Jay Dreyer, and many orhers.
