Remember the "man offered could not just be a friend." He would have to be a sinless friend. In the OT, the lamb offered for the sinner had to be one "without blemish and without spot."

I was checking for hamartia in "a greek english lexicon' by Frederick william danker" third edition BDAG. I have thayer. Please tell me the lexicon that translates hamartia as "sin offering." I fully agree with your explanation on the meaning of the text. "sin offering " be implied by "huper 'emwn' "for us" In the old testament the lamb offered by the guilty knew no sin but it was made a sin offering.

The Trinity... God the Father, God the son, God the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is without sin. To believe that God the Son became sin means that He would be removed from the Trinity because sin can't exist in the Trinity. But becoming a sin offering falls in line with gospel teachings in Old and new testament. Lamb of God, you take away the sin of the world! NOT...Lamb of God, you ARE the sin of the world. Great video.

Thayers is pretty much the gold standard of lexicons, and it doesn't have "sin offering" as a valid... definition of hamartia. But I looked a little deeper, and the word twice translated sin is the exact same word in both instances. So if he were to be consistent, he would need to translate the word hamartia as sin offering both times, and that really wouldn't make sense, eg, ...He made Him to be a sin offering for us who knew no sin offering..
