Mozambique used to be a popular name in China in the 60‘s into 70‘s because that time we aided Africa pretty heavily. So there was a lot in the news about Mozambique and Zambia etc. I remember when I was in the primary school we invited a guy who went to Africa(forgot which country, must be one near Mozambique if not itself) in some friendship program to our school to talk about we sent medicine and some engineering stuff there and how the locals loved Chinese. But nowadays young Chinese don't know much about that part of the world.

learn conversation first and then grammar is a really good advice in fact.. i've been immersing myself in english which is a foreign language to me from an early age a lot like jongmei and chines. to this day i dont really know the grammar but when you go to britain or the usa you see that the people there dont really know the grammar either :D the more you speak a language the more naturally you understand when something doesnt sound right.. in schools they teach you grammar first and its very tedious to remember and use, like its multitasking in your brain and most of us arent good at it, much easier to focus on memorizing grammar and not trying to use it or not doing grammar but read and listen a lot, an immersion. i studied german intensively in school and remember only bits of it, was really hard work this 'multitasking', not for me, an immersion is the lengthier path of the two but doesnt fry up your brain. no reason you cant use both approaches but not simultaneously within a single study session

As long as you are a foreigner in a non immigration country, people look ( and/or stare ) at you, and that’s common ( isn’t it?). Also, not everything related to “racism”. discrimination? Yes that exists, and exists in everywhere in the world, there’s even discrimination within its own people 🤷♂️. And if you find people “staring” at you, shouldn’t you think for a second that you are not in an immigration country and that you are in a different country as well. Just like when a Asian person in a African country when there hardly foreigners, let alone Asian people, so when a Asian person show up, the locals will also stare at the person too( isn’t it?). And I believe some of you may have saw a photo of a Asian guy in Africa and all the locals kids are doing that eye thing in front of the Asian, do you consider that as “racism” or just ignorance? 🤷♂️
@aiden_qiuuАй бұрын
Very well said, in future whoever said about the staring thing, I’ll gonna reply like this lol
@ChaseYuАй бұрын
@ personally, I find it very funny (and quite silly) that whenever westerner travels in Asia and when interviewed, they will say this “people staring thingy” that make them “uncomfortable”! 🤷♂️ I mean, you aren’t in your own home country, you are in fact traveling in a different continent, region, country etc. and if no one look(stare) at you, that would be weird and strange. 😅 You throw a Asian guy in a white country( especially a small city or town), people will look/stare at the Asian guy from time to time too, and so are we gonna consider that “bad” or “racism” related? ( don’t get wrong, I’m not denying or defending racism, it exists, and so does discrimination that got nothing to do with race). And the first girl in this video is right, most of the time, people are curious, sometimes there “racist behavior” too, and that’s out of total ignorance and not full on racism.
@nicolewilson4058Ай бұрын
@@ChaseYu When you come from a very diverse country you aren't used to that. You are not used to "standing out". There are so many different people around. That is where the being stared at becomes uncomfortable. I wouldn't refer to them as being silly. Everyone's comfort level is different. It is to be expected whenever you go to any homogenous country there are going to be stares. Being curious is one thing. Racism is another. You definitely will know the difference. There are plenty of people who will straight out tell you what they don't like about you. Some Chinese can be very upfront in what they say to you. Fortunately, when I had gone to China I didn't experience any racist behavior. In Shanghai there are many foreigners. No big deal. There are some remote areas it's totally different. If someone stared at me, I had to remind myself this wasn't common for them to see a foreigner.
@ChaseYuАй бұрын
@ China isn’t exactly a “homogeneous” country, we’ve got different ethnicities in our home country who looks nothing like the “usual Chinese face” ( although most of us does look the same), but then again, China also not an immigration country. So outside of big cities, people don’t often sees foreigners in person, and so the “stare” is pretty normal. And Chinese or perhaps Asian people being upfront, because we aren’t doing the western PC nonsense(Iike elder folks see you being fat, skinny or looking pale, they will just say it without any filter, and that isn’t out of bad faith or anything, people just being straight forward). Yes racism and curiosity is different, but for a non immigration country, most people are purely just curious than being racist, and that some foreigners are just too sensitive about it( now, I don’t disagree that there are people with bad behavior or rude, and that they can be quite “lacks the common sense” too, and that they’d also acted out before putting any thought into it)!
