My husband is a firefighter. The maze is SCARY. Not much phases him, but when he went through the maze at his department he finished with only a few breaths of oxygen left. Some of his fellow trainees ran out of oxygen and had to use the special technique they teach for breathing if you run out of air. He said toward the end he started to panic. Even if it's not the true maze, with Eugene being tested on a variety of techniques and protocols as he goes, it's impressive that he finished.

@@CiCiSpillsTea in my personal experience in the area I live (NSW Australia as a volunteer rural firefighter) women have been treated very much equal, I haven't had an experience (yet) where it was assumed I couldn't do something just because of my gender and we are always expected to treat other equal and help if someone is struggling with something no matter what, that said there are some times during training, say if I'm struggling to pick up something heavy or getting a hose fitting to tighten properly we have a joke and giggle that I'm too weak (usually started by me dramatically saying I'm too weak to start the joke) BUT when we are actually in the heat of the moment and someone is struggling we are all expected to keep an eye out and jump in to help no questions asked or jokes made, as they mentioned in this video every person is different and everyone will react to things differently - again regardless of gender, so no point in dragging gender into it As for being sexualised - as you mentioned, majority of it is aimed at the men and that is pretty much true, I haven't really heard of any of the women getting sexualised but I can tell you from experience that most of the (volunteer) firefighters in the area around me are old guys with beer bellies and dad bods 😂 any time things like that are brought up they all start to laugh and makes jokes about how good they look while they rub their bellies or make ridiculous poses, we all pretty much just tend to make a lot of jokes in general about the whole 'firefighters are all fit and sexy' thing

Where I work we have an annual 1 day basic firefighting training and all employees must participate at least once. This year I decided to join and it was the most physically demanding day of my whole life. We were taught how to extinguish fires using hosts and whatever available water supply. We had to go down a 4 story building using just ropes and basic rope skills. First aid, how to take care of burn wounds, and all that. After that day every time a firetruck/man in firefighter uniform passes by I just silently pray over them because I cannot imagine working everyday like that. Thank you for being real life heroes.

@@madeline2282 KZbin keeps deleting my original reply so I'll just retype it: I'm a college instructor, weird right? 😂 But where i live the areas are prone to fire due to our climate (like summer all throughout) and we also have a housing problem where almost all houses are stacked and one household fire could potentially burn everything. Also, our university is just a walking distance from the fire station so it was probably an internal arrangement between the two that made the training possible. Although we did not do the closed building fire cause they said it was too dangerous since some of the participants were in their 50s, but we did extinguish fires but in an open area and while wearing gear. It wasn't really required, more of encouraged to join. Since the training gave certificates which can be considered an "accomplishment" for the department or college we're under. But it was also seen as an opportunity to learn so that when the time comes we would at least have an idea what to do. My original comment had a facebook link to the 2022 album of the training, couldn't find the 2023 one. But apparently KZbin automatically deletes comments with links 😑

As the fiancée of a career fireman, I really appreciate yall doing this video but also adding a PSA to try to help them with their job is maybe the most important thing for viewers to understand. Only so much can be done if no precautions are taken. A HUGE PSA that should be added is to shut the door!!! It limits oxygen to the fire and can easily save your life! Of course there wouldn’t be enough time to do every part, but if yall were able to simulate more types of events that firefighters go to (car wrecks, medical calls, etc) or how they do their best to decontaminate gear, that would have also been awesome to add-but still an awesome video! I love it when the Try Guys open our eyes through new experiences and give us the chance of changing our perspectives over things, being a firefighter is way more complicated and risky than we all thought

This is one of the most insane videos they've ever done. I am flat out terrified of house fires, it's one of my biggest fears, and watching the way that burn building just erupted in flames was the most horrific and awesome thing I've ever seen. I'm super proud of the boys for all the hard work they put into this, especially Zach; I have chronic pain as well and watching him go through this, I just know he was out of comission for a week after this. They all worked so well together and I'm super glad Eugene was able to do this before he leaves !

I felt anxious just watching this... What an insightful video into the work and training of firefighters. Absolutely incredible people who do this. The constant concentration, focus and speed at which this work must be done. I have huge respect for firefighters; they seem to always be good and fun people, meanwhile they work day and night to save peoples lives.

South Metro is top notch. Eric Hurst is the reason I’ve gotten into public relations for my full time job and I’ve been taking PIO classes. This video was outstanding, from a firefighter, you guys did amazing!

I think 38:05 is them all crawling over the baby. I believe the (unintelligible) was Zach calling it a “lip.” Eugene’s “we’ve got an obstruction” is so funny in hindsight.

As someone who’s had two house fires and been in the first one, this was a really emotional video for me! I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the work that firefighters do. And clearly it’s really hard on them as well to live in service of others. I appreciate the try guys for showing how much work and selflessness goes into fire fighting!!

awesome vid lmao, tbh the funniest part to me was how scared zach was of the fire pole. in elementary school, the big toy on the playground had one of those slidey poles so i just kinda assumed every elementary school had them and we all learned the fireman pole slide on our own time? 🤣

My grandfather just turned 70, and he is still a volunteer firefighter with our community fire department. I knew he was a badass (played college football, was a professional bull rider, and single-handedly keeps our family farm going), but this just made me realize how much more of a badass he really is. Thank y’all for doing this!!!

as a volunteer firefighter I absolutely LOVED this video. when I found out this was coming out, I was so excited to watch it. the guys absolutely cover all the emotions of training. I couldn't help at giggle at the question of what it would feel like to hit someone in the chest with the water of the hose cause this happened to me during my first controlled burn. I opened the door for the nozzle guy, and he opened the nozzle full blast into my chest from like 3 feet away. to answer their question, it ABSOLUTELY hurts I got knocked back and definitely felt it for the next few days. luckily my instructor quickly helped me get my head back on straight and we finished the drill no more issues. thank you try guys for everything you do!

I lived near by in the marshal fires in Colorado. The amount of lives and families affected by it was crazy. My boyfriends family had to evacuate and a coworker of mine (at the time) lost her entire house and multiple irreplaceable items from centuries in her family. Fires are no joke and fire fighters are one of the most amazing people for helping fight them and put their lives in risk. Thank you to all 911 staff for risking your lives to protect people you don't know ❤️

Its easy to just assume it will never happen to you. As a pet owner its so scary. I know I could lift my dogs, but I have an axolotl too, I have a tupperware of water that i change every week, under his tank, just in case theres a fire and and I have to grab him and get out! He matters just as much to me to save.

I feel Zach in these "feats of athleticism" moments so hard. In my teens and early 20s, it was smooth sailing. But then in my 30s my disability caught up to me and then COVID kicked it into high gear, and now anything that involves gravity is just.... so gd much. Including walking. You just don't know if your body is going to keep up with what you're about to ask of it, and it's scary. I'm really proud of him for trying things like this.

Tons of respect for firefighters. My late grandfather was a firefighter, though he retired before I was born, so I never knew much about his work life. I’m sure the profession is very different now than when he was working, but it’s still cool to learn a little more about firefighting. We have a gold fire truck ornament we hang on the Christmas tree every year in Grandpa’s memory. ❤

My grandfather was a firefighter for about 60 years. After he retired, he and my grandma would cook the firefighters dinner during their monthly meetings. My grandfather passed away last year and the fire station named a fire truck after him. He was beloved by the whole community ❤️
