Married with Children went from April 5th 1987 to June 9th 1997. It had 11 seasons and 259 episodes. I watched it growing up, ended up buying the series pretty cheap last xmas. Not only is it one of the greatest sitcoms ever, but it has become a gem in the sense of how with how frail and oversensitive society has become, Married with Children just doesn't give af with its comedy so it holds up better than ever.

Well said, I grew up in mid 80s and loved watching this show. This type of sitcom could never survive in todays society where everyone is super sensitive needing their safe spaces and juice boxes.

not mid to late ... just late 80's and ran till the late 90's 87-97 , in this regard i always looked at the show as more of a 90's show than an 80's show , since it ran 7 years in the 90's and only 3 years in the 80's

Season 1 (these clips are mostly from that season) was pretty tame cause it was a new shot and Fox didn't want to take too many risks with it. They really started to get crazier from Season 2 and by Season 5-6 it was pretty much no-holds-barred comedy. Loved it!

This is season one or two so late 80's, the writers hadn't quite got into the groove yet. It's amazingly good writing straight out of the gate, but they polish it and the show just gets better and better. and is easily the best sitcom ever created.

Oh boy 8:13 did this gag age well, even more hilarious and messed up now xD Btw. This show has ran pretty uninterrupted here in Finland on nation-wide channels since it was first aired until 2019. It is on a hiatus now, but should most likely come back soon again due to it's immense popularity. It is even now available on our streaming platforms I don't think I have ever heard anyone ever complain why that series is ran so regularly on tv, (apart from one absolutely insane article on our main newspaper I read about how the show is the main cause of sexism and has ruined all generations from the 80s to 2020s. Seriously, that was a real Helsingin Sanomat -article) People around here have always understood it is a caricature and a comedy tv-show, not real life, a guideline of how to live your life or a socio-political statement in any way. That being said, it does occasionally highlight many real life situations, problems and relationships that people encounter in their daily lives, but just blown way out of proportion and introduced in an over-the-top-funny way, which makes it easy to identify with and understand. ps. You can date the episodes judging from Al's hair and the growth of the kids ;) also Marcy had a different husband during the first four seasons

When they were in ths restaurant they had a bill that was the same amount as a check they got and Al wanted to take the family out for a nice dinner. But Peggy needed a new dress for the occasion so she took the money to buy the dress and Al didn't know what she did so they made it seem like they were waiting a while to go out the door 1 by 1 and get away with it. Sad but oh well.

There was a HUGE difference in the dynamic of the show between the first couple seasons and everything following. That first clip... that's an entirely believable conversation. Many of us have been in that conversation! After that initial bit, the writers dialed up the embellishment. Yeah, still funny, but jeez.
@kingcosworth26432 жыл бұрын
I just wrote a similar comment. Their writing was really good straight out of the gate but they find a groove later and it just gets better and better. I always favoured the Jefferson Darcy era of the show, I think that's when all the characters are at their best.

The show ran from 1987 to 1997 and had 11 seasons. The episode you asked for the years was "Eatin' Out" from 1989. - I still the watch the show from time to time, just putting on some episodes after work or while having supper, it's always a great time! Sadly, comedy like this will never ever come again, since so many people get offended by the slightest things. Even back than, one of the main writers quit the job in (I think) 1994, around seasons 7 or 8, because it started there with the "political correctness" and he said, it was not fun making comedy anymore, since now you have to be careful with each and every line you write. Sad... but at least we have 11 seasons of AMERICAN GOLD QUALITY HUMOR! - Love from Germany
